Niabi killed for it once and is prepared to kill again. Crispin wants it and is determined to have his revenge. Salome wants nothing to do with it, but her fate is intertwined with the White Throne of Northwind, the most coveted throne in the Ten Kingdoms of Adalore. After years of people insisting she must be cursed due to her discolored left eye, Salome starts to believe they might be right. With the Immortal Seer, their axe-wielding guardian and a dangerous bounty hunter known as the Wanderer in their company, Salome and her brother, Crispin, set out to unfamiliar territory where they must avoid capture by the Shadows, battle the sadistic Thrak of Gommorah, survive assassination attempts and combat the Wagura in the Caverns of the Undead, while seeking aid from their late father's Adalorian allies to defeat their sister and reclaim the White Throne.
