This Place is Still Beautiful
Sisters Annalie and Margaret are as different as they come. Nineteen-year-old Margaret is assertive, hard, and looks just like their Chinese-immigrant mama. Seventeen-year-old Annalie is sweet, self-conscious, and white-passing. When their family home is painted with a shocking racial slur, an outraged Margaret flies home from her summer internship in New York City to investigate - only to learn her presence is seemingly unwanted. The last thing Annalie wants to think about is the slur: she'd much rather focus on the fact that her lifelong crush is finally taking an interest in her. Meanwhile Margaret finds herself dealing with far more from her past than she'd like, including her recently ex-high school sweetheart. But while the sisters try to navigate this most unexpected summer, what they don't know is that an explosive secret is lurking. One that threatens to break their relationship apart, once and for all.
