A good account of the events around the cultural revolution in China from the perspective of a young girl. However the perspective of these accounts seem almost always to be from the point of view of the wealthy class protagonist, one has to wonder what was going through the minds of the red guards and the peasants who rose to power at the time. Were they just opportunistic? Ignorant? Idealistic? Under-educated?
