I really enjoyed this book, and did not expect to. I went into it with super low expectations as I got it on Kindle Unlimited since it is a ghost story and it's #spookyseason

The characters were super relatable. The setting was something I could certainly imagine. There is a part where the main character, Cath, goes to an unrenovated area of an old Romanian monastery; I could actually feel what that was like for her. Oh! And the end was so good! I often think of how easily a haunting could be 'brushed off' as mental illness or vice versa, and it is something that scares the ever living daylights out of me. Lastly, I have to touch on Maria. I love how she was finally able to let go of her earthly presence (I'm assuming) by protecting Cath, that tied in nicely to who I felt she would have been when living.

All in all, this book drastically exceeded expectations and I highly recommend if you want a short, not-too-graphic ghost story!
