shinji and hatsue's story are so dynamic. beyond the boundary, sometimes thought-provoking, and some parts are written "too sensual" and assertive rather than gentle and in more affectional way.

lol mishima why are you so obsessed with boobies!! you’re this close to “she femaled femininely across the room, her breasts breasting breastily” energy. (sorry for anyone who had to read that lmao)

this was my first mishima and i’m thinking probably not the most characteristic one to begin with. there was no dark traditionalism, no suicide, no war. which is not necessarily a bad thing, of course! it’s just that his take on romance seems a bit flimsy and underdeveloped, with flat characters who rely a bit too heavily on physical m a g n e t i s m.

           Liked:
- quick and easy read
- Rooting for Shinji and Hatsue (both are likable characters)
- Enjoyed the heroic scene on the boat
- The attack scene was emotional and scarry

Disliked:
- Scene with women divers warming themselves around the fire was strange
- Did not care for the ending much
- Did not feel that the story was overly moving/emotional
