honestly, this book was so sexy. first time reading a book by audre lorde that wasn't strictly for gender studies class and boy was I pleasantly surprised. this book chronicles the female relationships (romantic and non) that have shaped her childhood and adulthood. lorde's writing is filled with sensuality, vibrant imagery, and longing for what was, what is, and what is no more. i think this will be my favorite book for 2025.
I leave you with this quote: There were ripe red finger bananas, stubby and sweet, with which I parted your lips gently, to insert the peeled fruit into your grape-purple flower.
