for the most part this is pretty good but my god the kaiju prison slang is so awkward and - this is not a word i tend to use lightly - cringe. especially "redking" for "fucking (adj.)" and ESPECIALLY in the compound form "mothra-redking" for "motherfucking". like ah yes, red king from ultraman. why is his name a vulgar intensifier? at one point one of the ultraman-esque guards reacts to being called a "mobile suit" like it's a slur. like ah yes, i too have heard of gundam. why is it an insult to be called that? and everyone constantly throwing around "'nilla" (ah yes, i too am aware that godzilla's showa-era son minilla was poorly received by fans) and "lizza" (or the hard-r form "lizzer"; most of the kaiju aren't very lizard-like so not sure where this one came from), i know a lot of people have this very knee-jerk negative reaction to imaginary slurs in fantastical contexts and i'm not generally one of them but it can get a little TOO on the nose, y'know? and it's a shame because like i said it's mostly pretty good, the plot's pretty decent, the art is nice and there are some pretty solid characters but reading all this absurd, stilted, occasionally uncomfortable slang really brought the whole thing down.
