This book made me very, very angry for a massive chunk of it, but I promise if you keep reading everything gets better! I'll keep this brief: read this if you want quality LGBT+ representation in a YA genre. It has the only nonbinary rep I've ever read (and it's with the main character!! not even a side character) and despite gender being an occasionally touchy subject, it's presented well in this book. The book touches on transphobia, too, and the problems of LGBT+ fetishization, which are both interesting to see in a fantasy setting. There's also bisexual representation which, coming from a bisexual, is done pretty well. 

There's also great sword-fighting and action scenes!

All around, this book has a phenomenal ending, but I took a star off because the middle section (intentionally) makes you very upset.
