Broken by the Horde King

Broken by the Horde King

Zoey Draven2021
Nine years ago, he broke my heart and never returned. I vowed to forget him…if only I could. When I was a child, I fell in love with a Dakkari boy. The prince of our clan. Rukkar, we called him. For he was destined to become the greatest horde king of our time. He was Kiran of Rath Okkili. My friend. My strong, unyielding protector. His mischievous smile and golden eyes made my heart flutter and my soul sing. And just when I began to believe he returned my love…he shattered me so completely and never once looked back to see how I’d survived. Nine years later, he’s returned. Only, he’s not a prince anymore. He’s a horde king. Cold and cruel. With molten eyes like sin and a body made for war. I promised myself I’d never love him again. He intends to make a liar out of me. Because he not only wants my love again…he also demands me as his queen.

My Review (May contain spoilers, Fair warning upon reading this review)

Broken by the Horde King was a superb read here. I really had a good time with the second chance elements to this one here. And there is some groveling for those that need those in order to read a romance. I really found this one to be the most interesting because I never expected this type of dynamic with the style of world building that the author has used so far. Most pairings the two main characters haven't known each other for as long as these two have. The whole childhood sweethearts was so fascinating to me. It was hard at times seeing those flashbacks.

There is something that I love so deeply about a second chance with some unrequited love mixed in here. The hero has his reasons for hurting our heroine as he does, but we don't see those motivations until much later in the books. So its very hard to see why he treats her the way that he does. My heart wept for this heroine, who had been dealt some rough roads in her life, I do think she took a bit too long dragging out the grovel, but it definitely wasn't too short. I appreciated the way that other characters were implemented within the story. The romance was quite emotional at times, but there was also an air of mystery along the way as well.

Overall I found Broken by the Horde King to be a superb read and it kept me fascinated from beginning to end.

4 stars ✨ so i love this series. It’s an underrated gem on kindle unlimited imo. The newest book always hits my radar right when I’m in a reading slump and this always pulls me out of it. The world building, the Dothraki style heroes, the language and story are some of my favorites. This story was really cute, and I loved Kiran and Maeva. Only Kiran didn’t sit fully right with me, i hated that it took him so long to realize what he had and that Maeva barely experienced life without him. Second chance/childhood friends to lovers romance are both not my favorite trope so that could be it. I think i just prefer when it’s mostly the hero pining instead of the heroine. But Still. I loved this. And More scenes with Roon pls 🤣
