The Almanack Of Naval Ravikant

A leveraged worker can out-produce a non-leveraged worker by a factor of one thousand or ten thousand. With a leveraged worker, judgment is far more important than how much time they put in or how hard they work. 

Forget 10x programmers 1000x programmers really exist, we just don't fully acknowledge it. See @ID_AA_Carmack, @notch, Satoshi Nakamoto, etc.

If you have a criticism of someone, then don't criticize the person-criticize the general approach or criticize the class of activities. If you have to praise somebody, then always try and find the person who is the best example of what you're praising and praise the person, specifically.

I typically am not a fan of reading books in this genre cover to cover, but the brevity here was much appreciated — possibly because it was largely an echo chamber of my own thoughts, except coming from someone with a breadth of experience and thus more substantiating evidence to back his theses. I did not need to be convinced with a million examples, and I was mostly spared of them. Eric Jorgenson did a good job summarizing and organizing.

I'd keep this around as something to refer to on specific topics when I'm fumbling for clarity, especially because I hold several of the same theses right now myself but occasionally lack the clarity with which they're presented in this almanac.

Not really written by Naval. Instead, it’s a compilation of his tweets, blog posts, and podcast appearances. That being said, the author has done a great job stitching these varied sources into a cohesive image.

Pearl of wisdom. Absolutely fantastic read. I will definitely be applying Navals's wisdom on wealth creation, happiness and exercise.

One good advice I'm taking out of it is "Be so good they can't ignore you." As I just dropped out of medical school to pursue a career as a software Engineer in a third world country, it's advice I really need.

No more begging to be employed. I know my worth and I'm offered renumeration commensurate to doing the work only I can do.

It's certainly one of the best books I've read all around this year.

I felt like most of this was common sense to me. It also seemed as though the book was saying “don’t bother reading this book” multiple times throughout which I found made me lose trust in its authenticity and purpose. 

This doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t be valuable to others, I just feel as though I’ve learnt most of these lessons before.

Naval's Almanack is a compilation of his aphrorisms, which he has shared over at Twitter. The first few chapters are good, but as he suggests, it is best to understand and read ideas from their original sources. I breezed through later chapters because I disagreed with his idea of happiness. He is spiritual but he is also a realist. He lives in the moment but says life has no meaning. He also contradicts himself in later chapters. Every man and woman is unique, he says. But he points to a life of freedom from...anger, etc. While he doesn't want to give advice on happiness and wealth, he is preaching it.

This book has awesome personal development insights of Naval Ravikant, nailing from interviews, tweets, ilustrations and secondary sources to inlight a better inpretation of each theme.

Personally, i felt serendipity with this book, it cames at the right moment.

I would like to read more such books. Outstanding.

Excellent collection of wisdom from excerpts of Naval Ravikant tweets, interviews, etc.. I almost had the feeling that I'm reading a very long interview with the man himself. Lot of respect and thanks to Eric Jorgenson who put this all together. Recommended read. [reading time: 5h11m]
