This book was conceived by Adi Da Samraj at the end of 2005. He was first moved to make his own rendering, or 'interpretive translation', of a traditional Advaitic text, The Heart of the Ribhu Gita, in order to elucidate (and thereby honor) its full meaning. Adi Da Samraj then did the same with other great teachings from the traditions of Advaita Vedanta and Buddhism. In each case, he brought the essence of the instruction to the fore, with elegance and illumined understanding. Texts whose meanings were only partially (or cryptically) expressed even in the original suddenly shone forth, like rough gems cut by an expert hand. Such was the original kernel of The Gnosticon, an anthology of these masterful 'translations', together with discourses about the traditional texts, given by Adi Da Samraj. Avatar Adi Da's final work on The Gnosticon (only months before His passing in November 2008) included the addition of the essays Atma Nadi Shakti Yoga and The Boundless Self-Confession.

Adi Da Samraj's exhibition at the 52nd Biennale di Venezia (2007), Transcendental Realism, marks the first time his work is being shown to the public. The purpose of The World As Light is to provide an overview of his entire artistic oeuvre of the past forty years?accompanied by key statements he has made on his own art and on the artistic process in general. His art can be understood as an intensive investigation of the human condition?the condition of presumed existence as a ?self? in the midst of a world that is ?not-self?. Adi Da's art is meant to call into question the most basic presumptions of ordinary human life: the ?fact? of existing as an independent ?self?, the ?fact? of every ?self? being separate from every other ?self?, the ?fact? of the ?self? being separate from the world of ?everything else?. The Aletheon is a fathomless gift to the world immense in both its scope and profundity. It is a supreme masterpiece of wisdom, instruction, and Divine Self-Revelation. Avatar Adi Da's work on The Aletheon ended on the very day of his passing when he called for the title page of The Aletheon and finalized the wording, thereby forever bringing to a close his final great writing-labor of love. Adi Da had written many extraordinary and comprehensive books before The Aletheon. Between 1998 and 2006, Adi Da Samraj focused on camera-based imagery, creating a highly complex body of work (in both black-and-white and color) that now exceeds 60,000 images and a great many hours of videotape. The Spectra Suites, his latest book, is a consequence of his work from that great library. In these suites Adi Da Samraj combines digitally generated imagery with images he created using still and video cameras. To achieve each finished work he then meticulously crafts every detail by digital means. Each of the 10 Spectra Suites is based on one or more of his fundamental images--many of which are a powerful visual and philosophical complexity. These fundamental images are, for him, preliminary sketches. Each new image for the suites began as his response to a number of his own photographs collected on a nearby wall as a general representation of his subject. Rather than projecting them as a photorealist might, Adi Da Samraj used his photographs as a kind of "focus of recollection and presence" to bring the often immovable, disparate, complex, and multiple subjects of his art into the interior of his working studio. Adi Da Samraj has said that his intention as an artist is to visually communicate the Truth of Reality Itself by "allowing Reality to manifest Itself." This is the first major full-color monograph on this spiritual master's art, and is published in conjunction with a showing of his work at the Venice Biennale, June-November, 2007.
