Master Perez has competed in many major martial arts tournaments since the 70s he was a three-time member of the U.S. Wushu team. His highlight was competing against Zhao Changjun and Yang Siwen. He has even sponsored exchanges with Chinese teams, athletes and Masters. His skills have given him opportunities to work in the movie industry as an actor, stuntman and fight choreographer. He has worked with legendary director Yuen Wo Ping and actors Donnie Yen and Jet Li. He has also worked in the German television industry in a series titled “Der Puma”. In the entertainment industry he has portrayed a boxer, a police officer, a gymnast, and a break dancer, the red Power Ranger and a gangster. On stage he has worked with opera, ballet, symphony, drama and dance companies. He was a model for the Xbox game “Too Human”. From magazines to stage productions to television, motion pictures to video gaming to security, Master Perez has had the opportunity to use his skills in a wide variety of venues. Master Perez continues to learn, teach and promote Wushu to this day through performances, seminars, articles for magazines, books, television appearances and a video training series. His goal is to make Wushu as accepted and as popular here in the U.S. and the Western world as Karate and Tae Kwon Do.

Hojojutsu is the traditional Japanese martial art of restraining a person using cord or rope. Encompassing many different materials, techniques and methods from many different schools, Hojojutsu is quintessentially a Japanese art that is a unique product of Japanese history and culture. It is the beautiful and peculiar art of restraining someone using (often brightly colored) cord. It is rarely practiced outside of Japan and is an ancient strand of martial art with a rich and complex history. As a martial arts practice, Hojojutsu is seldom if ever taught on its own but as part of a curriculum under the aegis of the body of study encompassed by a larger school of bugei or budo, often as an advanced study in jujutsu. Hojojutsu techniques and methods are seldom demonstrated outside of Japan. Shihan Allen Woodman has trained over 20 years in Japan and is the Chief Instructor at the Dento Teki Na Dojo, the Kokusai Karate Do Renmei Hombu Dojo in Bronx, New York. Sensei Allen Woodman offers this book on the traditional martial art of Hojojutsu. This is one of the only books ever published on this art form detailing the defensive practices and techniques of the art.

At 15 years of age after a rare medical issue infected his spinal cord and a surgical procedure, Anand Arnold was left without the use of his legs.
