The current training evaluation and student measurement literature is reviewed. The emphasis is on studies which have been reported in the last ten years, although earlier studies which have impacted heavily on recent trends are also included. Because of the obvious interaction between both training evaluation and student measurement, on the one hand, and such topics as statistical methods, methods for course development, training methods, learning styles, motivation, and moderator variables, on the other hand, these and similar considerations are also included.

Revision of the standardized Radiological Monitoring for Instructors Test is described and the procedures involved in the development of a set of norms for the two revised, equivalent forms of the test, as well as the resultant norms, presented. The logic, developmental steps, and results of an attempt to develop a precourse screening instrument to be used with applicants for Radiological Monitoring for Instructors Course are discussed. It is held that the precourse screening inventory, as developed during the present study, possesses adequate validity for predicting end-of-course attainment as well as acceptable reliability.
