Urban Ecology is a rapidly growing field of academic and practical significance. Urban ecologists have published several conference proceedings and regularly contribute to the ecological, architectural, planning, and geography literature. However, important papers in the field that set the foundation for the discipline and illustrate modern approaches from a variety of perspectives and regions of the world have not been collected in a single, accessible book. Foundations of Urban Ecology does this by reprinting important European and American publications, filling gaps in the published literature with a few, targeted original works, and translating key works originally published in German. This is the detailed story of the 548th (P-61 Black Widow) Night Fighter Squadron in the Pacific Campaign of WW-2. It is written by the son of a 548th Radar Observer, and is lavishly illustrated wtih photographs, documents, memorabilia, and drawn-from-memory illustrations provided by over 30 Squadron veterans. Comes with photo CD of all images in text, for examining fine details. Story is mostly first-person and follows the Squadron from startup, through training, through action in the Pacific (Iwo Jima, Okinawa, others), to its deactivation in late 1945.
