Lao Tse didn't spread a doctrine. All times there have been thinkers able to raise their vision beyond the phenomenon of human life to the eternal meaning of the cosmic process, whose greatness defy conceptualization. The Tao Te Ching ([tâu tɤ̌ tɕíŋ] (About this soundlisten)), also known by its pinyin romanization Dao De Jing, [a] is a Chinese classic text traditionally credited to the 6th-century BC sage Laozi.
