Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Gattungen, Note: keine, Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg (Sprach- und Kulturwissenschaften Institut für Germanistik), Veranstaltung: Werwölfe als literarisches Motiv und ästhetisches Konstrukt, 15 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Joanne K. Rowling erschuf in ihren „Harry Potter“-Werken eine Zaubererwelt, die durch unterschiedlichste Charaktere, Tiere und Objekte geprägt wird. Basis hierfür scheinen Mythologien und Sagen zu sein. Viele der Helden werden durch sprechende Namen charakterisiert. Die Geschichte jedes Buches ist zunächst sehr rätselhaft und wird erst nach und nach aufgeschlüsselt. Der Leser kann dabei Parallelitäten und Differenzen zwischen den einzelnen Personen und deren Lebensläufen erkennen. Besonders die zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen, die von Vertrauen und Argwohn geprägt sind, sind dabei die Grundlage für die Geschichte. Im Folgenden werde ich die genannten Punkte genauer untersuchen. Zunächst gebe ich einen kurzen Überblick über die Rahmenhandlung und beschreibe einige Figuren genauer. Dabei werde ich auch einen Blick darauf werfen, wie diese in die Erzählung eingeführt werden. Im Laufe der Geschichte treten unterschiedliche Gestalten auf, die (willentlich oder unwillentlich) ihre Erscheinung verändern. Besonders im dritten Band sind diese Phänomene, deren gesellschaftliche Anerkennung in der Zaubererwelt sehr stark variiert, ein zentrales Thema. Die Schwerpunkte meiner Hausarbeit lege ich auf die Beschreibung des Werwolfes Remus Lupin und auf den Animagus Sirius Black, die in dem dritten Buch „Harry Potter und der Gefangene von Askaban“ zwei der Hauptrollen spielen. Um der Konstruktion dieser Figuren gerecht zu werden, werde ich sie jedoch nicht isoliert untersuchen, sondern besonders in Bezug auf die Gesellschaft und den Werwolf Fenrir Greyback.

Yet these fears and fantasies are too virulent to be simply quarantined within fictional texts; vocabulary and metaphors from outbreak narratives have now infiltrated how news media, policymakers, and the general public view the real world and the people within it. In an age where fact and fiction seem increasingly difficult to separate, contagious bodies (and the discourses that contain them) continually blur established boundaries between real and unreal, legitimacy and frivolity, science and the supernatural. Where previous scholarly work has examined the spread of epidemic realities in horror fiction, the essays in this collection also consider how epidemic fantasies and fears influence reality. Bringing scholarship from cultural and media studies into conversation with scholarship from the medical humanities and social sciences, this collection aims to give readers a fuller picture of the viropolitics of contagious bodies in contemporary global culture.
