Excerpts from the films alternate with narration by people who knew Petri, including Bernardo Bertolucci, Ursula Andress, Dante Ferretti, Giancarlo Giannini, Ennio Morricone, Gillo Pontecorvo, Franco Nero, Vanessa Redgrave and Robert Altman.
