Thinly written, and intended for the screen (large or small), this novel will win no plaudits for its deep characterization, crisp dialogue, or rich prose.  That it was also likely plagiarized doesn’t help, especially when that offense relates directly to the book’s plot, its only selling point.

Everybody I know had read this book and thought it was mind-blowing, so I was super excited to pick it up. I got it from my electronic library after having it on hold for months. I blew through it pretty quickly, which makes me happy every time. There were quite a few elements that took me completely by surprise which is what a good psychological thriller needs. Color me impressed!

I put the book on hold before I read about the author exposé, so I was a little wary of reading this book. No worries though because maybe a sociopath can write about what he knows. And it was a very fun and readable mystery. 3.5 stars.
