I just felt this was a book to create a perfect ending to the series. It wasn't needed, and through most of the book you believe one thing about the characters that is so out of personality for her so it kind of angers you.

It has been awhile since a book made me cry. I cried ugly tears with this one. My one criticism is the character of Carmen. I finally saw her on the train, but before that she was too different.

I was soo hopeful at the beginning of the book, but all I got was feels. Ugh. Sigh. Sob.

While I am happy that someday did indeed come for Lena and Kostos, and that Bridget and Eric were still together after so long, and that Tibby was with Brian till the day she died, and that Carmen did become the actress she wanted, this book did not have the same feel that the other four did. It might be because it is set 10 years into the future, maybe it was because Tibby was no longer a character like Lena, Bee, or Carmen was.
The book was good, nonetheless. It was a book that, if the series ended with this one, gave me finality. I have a definite glimpse into these beloved characters' lives.
If Brashares did write another book for the Sisterhood saga, I would read it, no matter what, but a 6th book is not needed.

Delightfully a nostalgic read for me. Admittedly cheesy in parts, and the middle of the book dawdles for a long time as characters think and whine and wallow and don't actually *do* much, but ... I don't know, there was still something inherently charming here. I grew up reading the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books, so there was an unexpected, and undeniable, emotional rush in getting to see these characters again, all grown up. 

There are a few things I found odd about the book. Carmen's shallowness, Tibby's prophetic positioning in the plot. Lena had barely anything to do save angst about a boy. Then there was the triteness of everyone having these flawless boys in their lives, who give them thousands of dollars at the drop of a hat and unconditionally love the girls even when treated terribly. I wasn't really fond of the way the preachiness to the pregnancy story. And having a character think the acronym "WTF" took me WAY out of the story for a moment, because ... seriously. come on. what.

And yet. 

I think if I hadn't such strong and fond memories of reading this series as a teenager, maybe I wouldn't have liked this book as much as I did, but I must've watched the first movie two dozen times, and I distinctly remember a terrible night when I was fifteen, disastrously without my inhaler in a house I didn't know well that was made of natural woods which I was, of course, allergic to. I was away from home, surrounded by people I didn't know, couldn't sleep because I could hardly breathe, and I ended up hunkering down in the walk-in closet, surrounded by furry coats and parkas and musty boxes of crap, and read the entire first Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants book in one sitting. I'm pretty sure I blew my nose (repeatedly) into someone's jacket and never told them about it. So, this series has gotten me through some tough times, and for as cheesy as it is, and preachy maybe, and trite ... it's still got all that god damn charm that makes me want to sit in a closet and cry into clothes that aren't mine and cling to these fictional people that, in lonely times, feel like old friends.
