Well written and occasionally scary, but ultimately pretty boring. The characters were bland and pretty stereotypical, the plot nearly nonexistent, the sex scenes gratuitous. The ghosts were legitimately interesting and unsettling until about the halfway mark, where a very cheesy scene (the ghost's major appearance) started a downward slope of ghostly computer screensavers and SMS messages.

I enjoyed the storytelling; the dichotomy of the imagery and depictions of mundane day-to-day life (school, work, friends) next to that of the terrifying and horrible acts of an ancient evil being. I will say the ending felt anticlimatic; maybe rushed? 300 pages of build-up and I was expecting and explosive ending, but it just sort of fizzled out.

why did i spend money on this? why is he getting praised by king? why is there so many awful sex scenes? why is there so little suspense and such poor writing that the scares that should be scary fall so short?

Definitely a quick-paced and interesting haunted house story. A few bits slogged but overall really enjoyable.

I didnt love this book. It was okay. It felt clunky at times. The flashbacks disrupted the story flow. They were overlong and irritating and normally I love flashbacks because of what they contribute to the story but these flashbacks dragged down the narrative.
