I absolutely loved this little book, a book that took me a mere 10 minutes to read. Not only do I love Tolkein's poetry but I also thoroughly enjoyed the illustrations created by Pauline Baynes who also illustrated the Chronicles of Narnia, some of my all time favorite books. These pages have three illustrations on each set of pages. The large, circular illustration depicts something from Bilbo's journey to the Gray Havens. The two small illustrations at the base of each page depict two separate scenes from The Hobbit. As someone obsessed with the books, I absolutely loved this.

This poem holds the same feelings as The Last Goodbye by Billy Boyd. That is to say, it makes me cry and leaves me with this bittersweet emptiness. 

Bilbo's Last Song is a slim volume with gorgeous illustrations. It's gorgeous and bittersweet and perfectly encapsulates the feelings of the Grey Havens and leaving this earth.
