Okay, so you know that feeling that you get when you read something that leaves you totally speechless. Well, to rate this book I would have to times this book my like a GAZZILION! It was like a huge slap in the face which caused a whole new part of me to just open my eyes. 

This story is told from several narratives which you would actually expect to clash and become a giant walking stereotype of a book but each characters' pain seemed to affect me in different ways. 
Jason's dad made me get really pissed and yes during the family day I almost threw this book at my bloody wall! He had no right to act all high and mighty when in retrospect he was one of the main factors of Jason's addiction. 
Olivia's mother was also nasty piece of work. In my mind she WAS the reason for all of Olivia's insecurity and her overall addiction to the diet pills.

Christopher just made me feel sombre and sympathetic. He never felt right and I think that his mother constantly telling him that he was fine and an angel really made it harder for him. It really shows how much blind faith that she had in God. In hindsight I think I liked him the best. Not for any reason other than I really connected with him.

Kelly was probably the person I could most relate to. She thought she was worthless and really mostly she wanted attention. She didn't really care if it was from some drunk loser who she wouldn't even remember in the morning. Her want for attention made her self-destructive and even in the book she admitted that it wasn't her parents to blame. 

Eva had to be one of the most depressed out of the group. She did the drugs for an escape from a life that she felt was crumbling. Her parts of the story are always vague and poetic.

What I am really trying to say is that I connected with each character on an emotional level. This book has opened my eyes to teen drug addiction and showed me what happens to the people who suffer through it. It also showed how easy it is to slip into a life of pure addiction and dependency. Mainly this book dealt with raw emotion and real problems. It took away the glamour of drug use and showed the dark side.

Chanced upon this when looking for quotes about addiction. While this is fiction, I would not be surprised if there were many figments of truth in them. An entirely relaxing way to do "research" about addiction & rehab, learning about these different worlds as they live it.

I think Amy Reed went to the Ellen Hopkins school of writing. This would been good as an audiobook with multiple narrators but it wasn't so it was just okay.
