** spoiler alert ** Before last week the only Baby Sitters club book I had read was #23 Dawn on the Coast but I've recently collected them and decided to read the books I've always wanted to read as a teen. This one was not as enjoyable as the last five books. I found Dawn's constant whining about Connecticut weather off putting. Possibly because I know she leaves in #88 Farewell, Dawn so I don't want to get attached to her character.

I used to read these all the time when I was younger and I made it my personal mission to find them in second-hand stores. I wanted to collect them all, but sadly I never managed this. Almost a decade on, some new versions of these came into my library and I needed an easy read. I wanted to see if these would hold up as well as I remember. Well, heck. I did not expect to be so pleasantly surprised by this! These books are marked for Junior but they tackle some big issues - friendship and growing up, divorce, remarriage, broken families, parent/child issues, siblings and step siblings, moving, coming of age. Yet they're not a quick read and actually paced really well. You'd think this would be light on the content coming in at only 150 pages, but Martin manages to give you a short summary where you need it and a longer description when required. The world-building is actually really good too, and there's characters that all kids can identify with. It's great having such a wide array of girls. I remember loving different ones when I was a kid, feeling connected to several of the girls. This series is done so well and it's great for readers who just power through as there's so many books in the series. You can easily check for content as a parent since the books are so short. Highly recommend.

Quick and easy read. I’m not really sure why I️ like these books so much and I️ feel weird for reading them but I️ try to be open with many different books, even if they’re a little young for me and from the 80’s. Really enjoy these books for some weird reason.
