Its my first time reading english literature and i must admit starting with this made my mind chemistry alter and severely change, it changed my perspective to different emotions and relationships whether family or friends and coming from someone who’s normally locked up in their own bubble and isn’t really expressive with emotions, this book affected these characteristics of mine, dont know for the better or not (because it made me depressed and emotionally overwhelmed) but its an otherworldly different feeling. 

I love how the writer just doesn’t directly preview all scenes and conversations, or how precisely each character feels rather than a “dialogue” of the character talking about it, and somehow the feelings each character has is delivered indirectly in the best way possible. An emotional roller coaster that has all contents that are intriguing to me; love, obsession, anger, violence, scenery and landscape. Also how the atmosphere and mood changes due to heathcliffs appearance is very impactful, even if hes not in the scene yet i can just feel when hes about to.

It was truly so tragic to read yet so well written. The male protagonist, Heathcliff is madly in love with his adoptive sister, Catherine, however as she is married off to another man, (Heathcliff marries too), their visits as a ‘family’ decrease more and more. This book just describes their on and off love and how they both suffer so much from being a part, for example Heathcliff dies from starvation, on his own fault. This novel just showcases how obsessed they are with one another, and how the lack of presence of one of them drives them insane. I wouldn't say this is much of a romance novel as their relationship seems sort of toxic due to their obsession with one another as they could not live without one another, yet they made each other so miserable due to constant arguments. It seems like a dystopian novel that has no escape at all, as all the characters in Wuthering Heights are trapped. In my opinion, it is a very controversial novel that depends on how different readers interpret the novel, it could be seen as violent, cruel and destructive or passionate, obsessive and captivating. The novel really shows you how people can be so cruel yet so charming, and how dark and selfish they can be. What was challenging includes that the themes and certain moments in the novel literally gave me chills, due to Heathcliff's actions and words that just creeped me out a lot. However, I did enjoy the eye-opening novel, and it made me aware of how people can love so deeply yet so selfishly and violently even if it negatively affects all who are surrounding them.

Most of the characters in this novel are horrible to each other, and some abruptly change their opinions from hate to love or vice versa. Still, I enjoyed reading it, and it offered a welcome visit to 19th century Yorkshire. Plus, now I understand the provenance of the Genesis song title "Unquiet slumbers for the sleepers... in that quiet earth" on Wind and Wuthering

overall a decent read. very violent and extreme emotions portrayed through characters in the novel. didn't get the hype honestly! definitely not a romance.

This book is...something in its own league. This book isn't as much about love as it is about how deep revenge seeps through and how the sources are often the ones among the norms: society. This book is pretty dark to say the least, explores many negative emotions in a very dramatic explosive manner which might overwhelm people but as the story progresses, especially with the ending; it all starts to flow beautifully. The most iconic feature of this novel are the dialogues. Wow. No book can top the dialogues expressed in this novel.

To conclude, this book is a journey on its own, and you'd certainly think bout this book for a while after you finish it.

Writing romantic scripts for theater sketches I decided to give "Wuthering Heights" a read through. As someone who does not read a lot of classic literature..and spends more time looking up vocabulary then understanding the plot machinations..I am probably not the best person to write a review of the book. But having spent some time with the book that I respect/admire more than I enjoy, I would just say the following: *the themes of corrupted love are really interesting in this book. Like a lot of people have written..the book may have inspired Twilight and thousands of romantic novels..but "Wuthering Heights" dives so into the trauma of love gone wrong..that it is just as emotionally gripping, even if it's not a joyous read as i expected. *The book recently celebrated it's 200 years...and although i don't think the writing is very accessible, the themes are ever present. Toxic male behavior, family disapproval of relations, the cruel ways ex-lovers treat each other, trauma through generations *the book skirts across so many genres. some call it a ghost story, or gothic..but it's hard to imagine it as just as romance novel. Overall, I understand why so many people "love" this book..as it rewards a deep read..or at least deep investment...but I am sadly on this read not a reader who can claim to climb that summit. It is no easy read, and I commend you readers who plunder all its treasures.

Cime Tempestose

Sarà per la traduzione eccellente, sarà per la storia intrigante, ma questo libro è diventati uno dei miei preferiti. Nonostante una iniziale e del tutto giustificabile confusione tra Linton Heathcliff, il signor Linton e il signor Heathcliff, e le die Catherine la trama è avvincente e ben costruita. Mi è venuto spontaneo il paragone tra questo romanzo e Orgoglio e Pregiudizio della Austen e devo dire che Cime Tempestose lo batte di molto. Almeno per i miei gusti.

The dialogues and emotions create a world of their own 

Wuthering Heights is Emily Brontë's only novel. It was first published in 1847 under the pseudonym Ellis Bell, and a posthumous second edition was edited by her sister Charlotte. The name of the novel comes from the Yorkshire manor on the moors on which the story centres (as an adjective, wuthering is a Yorkshire word referring to turbulent weather). The narrative tells the tale of the all-encompassing and passionate, yet thwarted, love between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, and how this unresolved passion eventually destroys them and many around them.

Everyone be like “this is a stunning gothic novel” and what does that mean? It means, it’s dark, it’s twisted, it’s at times gory. This is a classic tale of misunderstood lovers. Once I completed it, I was happy to know the story but it’s a challenging read.

Loved this gothic novel and how every character was so unlikeable that I ended up liking that the most about this.

this is such a third world romance type of book except they lived during the 18th century and was set in Yorkshire. 

i hated heathcliff BUT i did somehow get him.. BUT I DEFINITELY HATED HIM(lol).  I find him despicable and sinister but anyone would be as vengeful as him if placed in the same situation lol.

When I bought my copy of this a couple years ago in a used bookstore, I picked it up because it was cheap and I knew it as a classic. I admit, I was reluctant to start due to a specific kind of sexist thought process of: "I imagine this book that I only know of as a romance, written by a surely-aristocratic woman in the 1800s, has to be a stuffy, old-timey melodramatic bore." I expected lots of run-on poetic "I love you" chants in the rain. I wasn't and am still not lured in by a "romance" book at all. I figured with the movie coming out it would be a somewhat topical reading choice, so I bit the bullet and went for it.

I am pleased to say this book was not at all what I expected. The "romance" is a horribly warped one between two morons, both with a complete neglect for anyone but themselves. They're seemingly only drawn to each other because their opposite reminds them of themselves -- mostly their varied levels of psychoticism.

This book is primarily about Heathcliff ruining everybody around him, and some (most) of these people really do deserve his wrathful plague. Everybody sucks (Linton is a living joke) and you will cherish their absurd miseries. My favorite thing about this book, no question, was Brontë's dark, wicked humor. There are so many hilarious moments throughout, but my favorite laugh-out-loud bit was Hindley's final battle with Heathcliff. Hindley just locking Heathcliff out of the house repeatedly, sometimes while it snows, makes me chuckle now thinking about it. They're both such pricks.

Like "Moby Dick", "Wuthering Heights" is something of a time capsule, yet also like MD it remains exceptionally easy and compelling to read. Brontë's prose is excellent, I suppose it can be called "stained glass" but I think her word choices were very interesting, varied, and always painted a clear picture. Seeing how much happens throughout the book, it's arguably extremely dense, but it never felt curt. She took her time yet never rambled.

I did hate every time Joseph opened his mouth. Was was happening there, he was insufferably Scottish? Brontë had a laugh to herself writing out everything he said phonetically, I'm sure.

I highly recommend "Wuthering Heights". I'm calling it early, but this is sure to be my favorite romance of all time, probably because it's not a romance at all and thank god for that.

Beautiful and devastating. It encapsulates so well the range of human emotion while distinctly feeling like a fictional story. It's exaggerative and dramatic, yet raw and real. I think Jane Eyre still remains my favorite Brontë but both novels are trying to convey different messages and they do, in their own right.

Insane- hilarious - hard to keep up. This is my second time reading and I took the characters way less seriously this time. They’re horrid! The first time I was in love with Heathcliff and now I find he and Cathy and everyone involved expect Nelly just soOoO self absorbed. It’s a fantastic book. Couldn’t tear through anything from 1847 faster. Love the drama, love the intensity, love the insanity, love the ghosts. Bah so good. So grim. So perfect for January.
