Really how could I give this book with this title anything other than what I did. I really liked Four a lot more in this than in Allegiant

This is the worst book I have read in a long time. The writing was so vague and non descriptive. The plot felt pointless. This whole book felt pointless. I’d be curious to revisit the Divergent book to see if it’s anywhere close to as bad as this was. Disappointing show Ms. Roth.

This was an interesting read, to see the chain of events from the trilogy happen through an alternate perspective was refreshing and gave light to small questions I wanted to be answered in regard to Evelyn and Marcus and life in dauntless prior to Tris. I think what I wanted from Novella was more of Just Tobias and his like before dauntless rather than just his choosing ceremony through meeting Tris. but all and all it was an enjoyable read after the heart break of Allegiant.

What is it about a guys POV that makes everything seem more special? *sigh* Wish it could be so easy in real life. 

Great book, gives more depth to the character from 2 years prior to where Divergent starts and goes over some favorite Four + Tris scenes from Divergent.

When I found out that Veronica Roth was writing short stories from Four/Tobias' point of view, I knew I had to read those. At first, they were supposed to be released as separate ebooks, but after a while it was announced that they were going to be published together as an actual book. I pre-ordered my copy as soon as I could and a couple of days after the release date, I started reading it.

The book has four (hehe) stories told from Four's point of view, called 'The Transfer', 'The Initiate', 'The Son', and 'The Traitor'. I had read the Transfer already before I found out that it was going to become one book, and I had liked it. Though I still thought he sounded a lot like Tris. Of course, I understand that it might be hard to write a story from multiple POV's, and trying to not make them sound the same, but I don't think Veronica Roth did a very good job with it. Still, I loved reading about Four's transfer, and his initiation process.

The Traitor was basically a brief summary of Divergent, but then through Four's eyes. A bit like Hana was Delirium through Hana's eyes. I liked it, I liked reading several scenes from Divergent but through Four's eyes, I liked how he was trying to find out what was going on between Max and Jeanine and yeah, I just liked it very much! We didn't get a lot of new conversations or scenes, mostly the conversations between Tris and Four were the same ones we'd read about in Divergent, but I can't say that I was disappointed by it. I had expected it, and though I would have loved a complete new scene between the two, one that we hadn't read about in any of the books, I am happy with what we got!

As usual, the writing was very good, I just really like Roth's writing a lot! I got through the stories very easily, and eventually halfway through the book I just put it down so I wouldn't finish it in one day, because I wanted to savour it. Divergent is one of my favourite book series of all time, and this is the last book in that series, so I wanted to save the last pages. Still, I got through it very fast, and I enjoyed every minute of it. And the cover, oh wow I am in love with the covers of the Divergent series; but this one is just amazing. The ferris wheel! (view spoiler)[(Okay tiny bit disappointed that we didn't get that scene from his POV, shh). (hide spoiler)]

The only thing I didn't like, was that I had thought the Free Four story would be in here as well, but it wasn't. I had read it already of course, but I was under the impression that it would be in the book as well, so I could reread it again. But alas, it was not.

Still, no harm done, and I enjoyed Four, a DIvergent Collection a lot. Now I am going to lie down in a ball and try to not think about the fact that this series is now over.

I really enjoyed getting to read this scene from Four’s perspective- he was always the mire interesting character to me anyway.

the whole series should have just been the first 3/4ths of divergent and then most of this book … it still doesn’t make sense to me that tris died for no reason

I literally LOVE divergent so this book was so fun and easy to read since I’m so familiar with the world of divergent and the characters etc. It tells Four’s back story and even eventually lines up with Tris toward the beginning of her training. I recommend to all divergent lovers who want to continue the story :)

After finishing the whole series I still can't decide if I loved it or not. I can say tho, that I am glad I read it.
Now, specifically for this book...
It was so slow and overwhelmingly unnecessary. But I loved the fact that I could kind of experience their love story from scratch, forgetting for a moment how much the ending broke me.
And that's why I give it 3 stars. I am glad that now I can leave the series, which made me feel so many emotions, with a happy aftertaste.

Four: A Divergent Collection contains 4 short stories written in the perspective of Four/Tobias Eaton. In my opinion, it is better to read the trilogy first before going into this book; because without understanding the world and what happened in the trilogy, I think it will be quite confusing. And I'm actually a bit ashamed for taking such a long time to finish this short book. I guess it's because I already knew most of the things told in this book from the trilogy; but this time, we get to see what Four's thoughts are and how he felt about certain things. I am going to briefly summarize each story and then write a short review about what I think about this book :))
"Today he's trying to protect my ear from getting nicked by clippers, and yesterday he took a belt to me. The thought feels like poison working through me. It's almost funny. I almost want to laugh." 
"I have a new name, which means I can be a new person. Someone who doesn't put up with cutting comments from Erudite know-it-alls. Someone who can cut back.
Someone who's finally ready to fight. 

  The Transfer

The first short story takes us to the time before Tobias Eaton's Choosing Day. Before the strong and brave Four, there's Tobias with all his insecurities and fear towards his father. Choosing Day is a really big day for him, because it's when he got the chance to be free. This story is about Tobias' big decision to transfer to another faction; one of the few people who transferred from Abnegation...

I won't rate every story here because I didn't really think about it while I read but I will say that I preferred the first third stories over the rest of the book. I did enjoy entering this world again after literally years since I read the trilogy but it didn't really blow me away hence the rating.
