I really liked this book. I can see why some people don't like it though. it isn't perfect, and it has the bed aftertaste of a first novel that needs more refinement (though I'm pretty sure Jessica Beck is a pen name for a male cozy writer).

I will admit that the story is a tad farfetched in this mystery. That two people with no training could sneak in to the businesses mentioned and no one thought it was suspicious is a little stretch. The whole donut shop bit gets old after a while. While I really liked some of the random scenes with customers, they were just that- random with no real link to the plot, and a little repetitive when talking about her love for the shop.

What draws me in about this series is Suzanne. Something about her character is relateable compared to other cozy mysteries I've read. The dialogue is natural and fun to read. I liked the side characters, and I liked the overall plot. It isn't original by any means, but none of the cozies I've read yet have been completely original. 

At any rate, I didn't want to put it down, and that's the best prise I can give book.
