Women are being advertised in newspaper ads and then turning up dead. Turns out it is a pay website detailing women and their commuting details so that the members can "find" them. Zoe sees her own picture in an ad and contacts the police. Will they be able to find the person behind the ads in time to save Zoe from harm? This was a good mystery with twists and turns. It was my first book by this author but I will read others by her. I received this book from Amazon Vine in exchange for a honest review.

Mediocre thriller, my first Clare Mackintosh but I think I anticipated better quality from such a renowned author. The plot was not interesting, the stakes were quite low, the characters not particularly likable (or dislikable) and the twist was extremely convenient and unbelievable. 
Nothing was compelling about this book, if I hadn't been listening to it on audio while redecorating I would probably have switched to another book.

I've only heard wonderful things for Clare Mackintosh's writing. Not having read I Let You Go, I had no idea what to expect from this author, but I was so impressed and intrigued with what I got!

I see you. But you don't see me.

When Zoe sees her face on an ad in the newspaper for the website findtheone.com, she's creeped out. She's convinced it's her, but her family thinks it's someone who looks like her. The next day, another woman appears, and so on. What happens when one of these women ends up murdered?

I admit, it took me a bit to get completely hooked on the story. Our main character Zoe lives a very normal, boring, relateable life. There wasn't anything outstanding about Zoe and if it had been just her POV, I would have been very bored with the story seeing as a lot of her thoughts were monotonous. Thankfully, the author introduced Kelly, who's a police officer investigating Zoe's case and soon, all the cases from the women featured in the ad. Kelly was a strong and level-headed character that I instantly liked. Her POV was much more entertaining and intriguing.

There are short chapters that give more insight to why the website was created. They are also the creepiest chapters of the story! They make you second-guess everything you do, where you go, your routines, what you post on social media, and just every aspect of your life. Especially for those who use public transportation all the time. This book will make you rethink public transportation and everyone who looks at you while commuting.

The last two pages of the story left my mind going crazy with the sudden twist that Clare introduced! I was so shocked! I remember screaming, "WHAT?!" and re-reading the last few paragraphs. So shocked, you guys! It's safe to say I did not see that coming at all.

I believe readers will be impressed by this story. You will be second-guessing everybody and wondering what the heck is going on, why the person is doing what they are doing, who is the person!!! The tension that the author slowly built up for the climax kept me on edge!

I See You is a chilling and powerful psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat! It is slightly slow but the tension and the shocking ending makes it all worth-while!

I See You is a properly suspenseful airport thriller. Is it a literary masterpiece? Nope, the characters, plot, and setting are all pretty pedestrian. But it's still fun and manages to be substantially less irritatingly predictable than most of the thrillers out there today. 

I See You is about a middle age woman named Zoe who sees her photo in the escorts section of a newspaper one night. As she begins to ask questions and try to figure out why this happened to her, she helps uncover quite a terrifying plot against women in London. There's a website that tracks the commutes of women, selling them to the highest bidder. What was supposed to be a truly creepy dating site has turned into something even more sinister though, and Zoe and her family's lives are in peril. 

What makes I See You stand out from its peers is not that it is a better Gillian Flynn story than the rest. It's not Flynn-like at all. Zoe is just an average, certainly not hate-able, protagonist caught up in a deadly plot. She's delightfully normal in comparison to many of the other mains I've been reading about lately, with a normal life and job. She's not perfect, but she's a decent human being who isn't the cause of the book's plot. 

The plot was quite fun. Implausible, but only in the technicalities. I could certainly see people having this sort of evil idea and trying to carry it out. I think the hacking might be a bit harder to figure out than implied, but I was perfectly willing to suspend my disbelief. 

The mystery also isn't bad. There are definite hints throughout the book. The villains are not total shocks that come out of no where, but there are not painfully obvious either. 

All in all, I See You is an enjoyable, easy read if you are a fan of commercial thrillers.

Having read Clare's previous book, I Let You Go, I couldn't wait to read her new book I See You.

I See You is a brilliant psychological thriller, that will keep you guessing until the end, I read this book within a day as I couldn't put my kindle down, such a fantastic read and I would definitely recommend if you enjoyed I Let You Go.

I'm a bit disppointed with this one. 

I really liked Mackintosh's debut I Let You Go. But I found this book to be so boring. I didn't like Zoe at all, she annoyed me so much. 
The pace of the story is too slow. And there are many scenes that didn't contribute to the mystery at all. 

I forced myself to finish this because I wanted to know if I was right about the ending. I sort of was, but just means that the ending was somewhat predictable adn that's not good. 

Anayway, it's not like I See You is an awful book. It just wasn't for me I guess. I didn't like it much.

This book is an entertaining read, full of twists and turns, and is told from multiple perspectives. My main issue with the book happened after I had read it and set it aside. It takes a considerable amount of suspension of disbelief in order to accept the basic premise of this book. It's well written, though, and worth the time if you're a fan of psychological suspense novels.
