Interlude in Death was an In Death novella, and this time we follow the gang while they are staying at Olympus, Roarke's space resort. They were all there for a police convention, and the book starts off with Eve complaining about a speech she was required to give while they were there. Eve is someone that I can definitely see throwing a fit over public speaking, and shocked they even want her to talk at a seminar there. But true to an In Death book, we end up on a scene of a murder, but this time around, it is kind of personal since they are trying to frame Roarke, and Eve by association, as the murderer. Right from the start, we know who did it, and no one really points the finger at them as the culprits. I kind of wish we would've seen a few things, such as other officers believing Commander Skinner as he was the main one pushing it down everyone's throats that Roarke and Eve were dirty. Most of the novella is centered around Eve figuring out how Skinner was the culprit, and since it was a novella, we didn't get to flush a lot of things out. I think it would've also been fun to see his seminar where he kind of goes off the rails, and everyone really sees that this man is sick instead of being told about it later on. It was a solid novella, and I really enjoyed it. 

Sent off planet to attend a seminar at a large law enforcement conference to be held at a posh resort owned by her husband Roarke, Lieutenant Eve Dallas finds her sojourn interrupted by murder, a case complicated by her personal history with the victim--and Roarke's with the killer. Original.

Interlude in Death

Not bad for a short story. Probably the closest thing you can get to a "fun romp" in a series based around homicides. 

I will say that I'd like to see something where Eve really isn't being a cop. Just going on a vacation or something and not being roped into a murder plot. This did lose some points because it felt unlikely that everything would have played out as predicted.
