This is probably the least favorite out of all the books. Don't get me wrong, I still loved it but it just wasn't as awesome as  The Goblet of Fire  or  The Order of the Phoenix . I think because I have been reminded of a massive plot hole and it almost ruined the entirety of this book for me. 

In this book, we get introduced to Sirius Black, Harry's godfather and known criminal. Everybody fawns over him and I totally get why. He is such a drama king but so incredibly loyal. The Marauders are serious friendship goals (and Rowling needs to make a series about just them...). They even took on poor little Peter in their circle of friends. 

But he isn't the great father figure that everybody makes him out to be. Yeah, he bought Harry a broomstick, wrote him a note so he could go to Hogsmeade and kept an eye on him while he was at Hogwarts. But I don't know. I think a lot of the plot could have been avoided if several people could have been honest about some different things. Starting with Sirius.

I have seen this on Pinterest so it's not my idea but there was a comment mentioned about how poorly the Ministry conducts investigations. I won't go into details even though this book has been out of a long time, I still don't want to spoil anything. But once you read this book, think about my comment and it'll dawn on some of you what I mean. That is what kind of lessened my liking of this book but obviously it was still such a good book that I rated it 5 stars. 

Overall though, I seriously can't complain to much. Harry, Ron and Hermione are growing up and it's coming with struggles with all the raging hormones and puberty. Them fighting really tore at my heart but I know that it was bound to happen at some point. They are all so very different, it was only a matter of time before they had their first major fight. That's teenagers for you. I'm still glad that I read this book and I am ready to continue on the series and see what else I have missed.

The book took awhile to get into if we are being honest. However, once I got into it, I never wanted to stop reading (I feel like I say this a lot but it is true).

This book gave me a new appreciation for Lupin and Black. I didn't really care too much for these characters when I first watched the movie but the book definently changed my feelings towards them!

As for Snape....yeah still don't like him. This book just proves he can't let go of the past.

Love, love, love this book. I didn't think that J.K. Rowling could write a better book then the other Harry Potter books. Boy was I wrong. She did it again. I am officially a fan of the Harry Potter series and a fan of J.K. Rowling. She is an amazing author who I think gets into the characters that she writes. You can tell that she likes description and storytelling, by looking at the synopsis. It's crazy that J.K. Rowling is an amazing writer. 

I told this before but my dad used to read these books to us. I was young. My sister and brother were old enough and they love Harry Potter. When I was young I didn't think adventure and mystery were all that great. I was kind of scared by those kinds of books. I absolutley hated thinking about them. They gave me nightmares at night and it just wasn't my style. Then when I got to maybe age 11-13 when I started to love books. I figured out that I love action books. My dad called me and he told me to read Harry Potter. I was like okay, da da da da. Wasn't really thinking. Then I read the Maze Runner, Divergent, Hunger Games (only the first book). I fell in love with action, and that is how I fell in love with action series. 

The point of that story is that you can change what you love to read at any given point. I changed mine and I love my change. Get out from your boundries and explore different genres. 

Harry Potter is an amazing book. I think everyone should read at some point in their life. It is a classic!!!

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is probably my second favourite Harry Potter book. I always find myself getting ridiculously emotional about the Marauders. (@J.K Rowling that is the story you should reallyy write who even cares about Harry's kids smh) 

The thing is, I just care about Harry alot. As if he was me actual son, or my little brother. I just really want Harry to be happy and I feel like he (and kind of his history/backstory) is given so much depth in POA. The connection between Harry and Sirius, and Harry finally finding a father figure in both Lupin and Sirius is really important to me, as well as them providing a framework for him being able to "get to know" his parents. 

I find the whole Marauder's story kind of tragic - with Lupin & Sirius losing their best friend (and, due to Peter's betrayal, 13 years worth of time with Harry) and so the huge focus of the marauders in this book just makes it an absolute favourite of mine. The ending of the book where Harry gets his letter from Sirius and reads it "over and over" and is just so happy makes me happy like bb you deserve all the happiness in the world 

ANYWAY:psa this book gets MUCH SADDER each time you reread. When you reread it knowing everything about the past and future of these characters it is much, much sadder. Like Lupin saying he "knew" James and Sirius in school. 

KNEW HIM !?! SHUT UP THEY WERE YOUR BEST FRIENDS AND YOU LOVED THEM

Or like, Hagrid talking about how Sirius was there when James and Lily died OH GOD AND IT MAKES ME SO SAD because you know he was wrongly arrested hours later arrghhh 

I also think that the Quidditch matches in this book are some of the best in the whole series - the one where Gryffindor win the Quidditch Cup is THE BEST of the series, hands down. 

On top of that, we also see time travelling Hermione, Hagrid as a teacher, Hermione being a total badass (damn that hit on Malfoy tho) and breaking rules all over the place, HARRY GETTIN HIS FIREBOLT (a pivotal moment in the young kids life ok), Lupin actually being a good DATDA teacher, Harry & the sexual awakening (Cho Chang got him feeling things omfg ) the Boggart scene, Harry learning to cast a partonus !! Buckbeak !!, Hogsmede (and that damn perfect scene where Fudge talk about Sirius), Ron getting Pig, the Marauders Map, -- Fred & George study in this one ??? and an emotional chat between Dumbledore and Harry about his parents and his choices which was such a perfect conclusion to the book honestly. 

Also can we talk about how gloriously Harry's sass shows in this one because he was quippin all over the place

I love POA so much, it's probably the only book I literally wish was longer. I honestly ACHE for more of this, I know there is nothing else. But for real, when I get to the last page I still feel like ... where is the rest?

the book that launched a million fanfiction careers

Okay - so everytime I read a Harry Potter book I'm like "this one is my favourite!" but if I'm being realistic this probably IS my second favourite after Deathly Hallows which is my everything. I LOVE the characters so much, the focus on the Marauders, and the construction of the mystery. This has the best balance of dark and light elements. Some of my favourite scenes in the WHOLE SERIES are in this book (eg. The Shrieking Shack chapter, the Slytherin/Gryffindor quidditch game for the Cup, Harry and Lupin's scenes, ANY TIME FRED AND GEORGE APPEAR) and also its REALLY FUNNY (please, Fred/George, Lee Jordan, and Draco make me laugh out loud). It also doesn't take too long to get to Hogwarts like some of the others, and I love the early scenes of Harry in Diagon Alley before he goes to Hogwarts a lot. (the irony that the only one I love more is the one where they don't go to Hogwarts even though I love Hogwarts stuff?)

Anyway, those of us who grew up on a solid and fattening diet of Marauders fanfiction can appreciate this book because every tiny mention of Lupin, Sirius and James at school together causes my physical pain (you're gonna suffer but you're gonna feel good about it you know) and I LOVE that like, Lupin and Sirius care about Harry so much because of James and Lily? BRB crying??

This book is genuinely sad in parts, Harry is my favourite character (unpopular opinion i know!) but he's so sweet and I love all the scenes of him thinking about his parents UHH my boy deserved better.

Wow! I actually really enjoyed this book. The first two books just didn’t vibe with me. However once I started reading this book I couldn’t put it down.

In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry is challenged with Sirius Black, an escaped prisoner convicted of murder. Everyone believes Sirius Black is out to kill him since he was said to be the Dark Lord's most devoted follower. As Harry actually comes face to face with Sirius himself, things change forever.

Now, I want to start off by saying that this is one of my favorite Harry Potter movies. Reading this book was like watching the movie for the first time, even though I knew just about everything that was going to happen. I've only ever seen the movies, so I never got to see all the foreshadowing in the book. There were many clues as to what might happen in the duration of the book and in the end. All the information about animagus, Sirius, Peter, etc. The author Dobby the House Elf does a great job at foreshadowing...

We all know this series is hilarious, especially with Fred and George around. It really is enjoyable to laugh at these books, especially since they tend to be dark and morbid. But we were met with many jokes that seemed to lighten the mood just a little bit. 

I mean, the themes and settings of the book give it a reason to not be considered a children’s series, especially towards the last few books—I would say it starts at the Goblet of Fire. Many mentions of murder and violence aren’t executed in a simple, child-like fashion. I'm not saying kids shouldn't read about murder, but looking back to the books and movies, they just seem pretty dark for a child. But the whole experience of reading it, the characters, the setting, all of it would make sense for a child to read, and I can see why it's so nostalgic for people.

This has been a thing in the Harry Potter fandom, mainly the Marauders fandom, but you can't tell me that Crookshanks isn't secretly Regulus Black as an illegal animagi...I mean how "intelligent" would a cat be to help Sirius? To cuddle up against his chest? Definitely Regulus. Regulus deserves better. D:

Also, can we talk about the fact that Harry went from wanting to murder Sirius to wanting to move in with him in like...15 minutes? I know he said he's your godfather Harry but you just met him.

Overall, I really loved this book, even if it was a little slow in the beginning. (That's just because I was too excited to see my husband Sirius that I wanted it to move quickly).

For twelve long years, the dread fortress of Azkaban held an infamous prisoner named Sirius Black. Convicted of killing thirteen people with a single curse, he was said to be the heir apparent to the Dark Lord, Voldemort, and might even have assisted in the deaths of James and Lily Potter—Harry Potter’s parents.

Now Black has escaped, leaving only two clues as to where he might be headed: Harry Potter's defeat of You-Know-Who was Black's downfall as well. And the Azkaban guards heard him muttering in his sleep, "He’s at Hogwarts... he’s at Hogwarts."

Of course, Harry already had plenty to worry about. After inflating his nasty aunt and running away on the magical Knight Bus, he finds he’s being pursued by death omens at every turn. He receives two wonderful gifts: a top-of-the-line Firebolt broomstick, and the Marauder’s Map, a magical diagram of Hogwarts made by the mysterious “Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs.” Hermione disappears frequently, burdened down by a seemingly impossible course schedule. And the soulless Dementors have come to guard Hogwarts—supposedly to protect Harry from Sirius Black, but they terrify Harry more than the fugitive ever could.

To strengthen himself against them, Harry reaches out to Remus Lupin, the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher who was once a friend of his father’s. Lupin teaches Harry about the Patronus Charm, a defensive measure well above the level of magic generally mastered by wizards Harry’s age. But even with his broom, his map, his magic, and his loyal friends, Harry isn't safe.

Because on top of everything else, there’s a traitor hidden at Hogwarts…

Probably would have given this five stars if I would have had the time and mind space to read this one more consistently as a whole. The last chapters of this book were wild and wonderful, well worth it. Definitely felt different from the first two but very satisfying.

Azkaban is still one of my favorite stories in the Harry Potter Saga. The darkness progresses as Harry and Co. get older, and the threads J.K. began in the first book begin to tighten. Of course, we also get Lupin and Sirius, two of my favorite characters. If only I had known how their fates would affect me during my first read through of the books, hell, I'd of still read them. ;)

"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good" is absolutely iconic. Best thing of this book was the Lupin & Black scenes, I just wish we'd gotten (a bit) more of them and a little less Snape.
