A Donut Shop Mystery

I'm glad I'm getting to the end of what I own in this series. I have 2 more to go and then I think I'm done reading any more installments.

The problem I see is that, compared to other series I read, Suzanne has even less of a connection to investigate these crimes (Alphabet by Sue Grafton, Lucy Stone by Leslie Meier, and Donna Andrew's series in particular). I think I would be okay with it if the crimes were smaller, but it's always a murder in this tiny town, and she's always involved. Not only is the potential victim pool decreasing, the way Suzanne engages in her investigations is becoming tiresome. Maybe it took this long for me to realize it bothered me, but she just runs right up to people and asks dumb questions. Her boyfriend is featured prominently but then argues about his duty versus her, and it's kind of tiresome.

The mystery itself was weak. I don't know if I just missed clues or if there lacked any for the conclusion. It seemed abrupt and I didn't appreciate it.

It was definitely not the best in the series and took a chunk of time to complete. I hope the next few are better.
