Romancing Mister Bridgerton

This book was really funny, especially towards the end and I liked how even though Colin and Penelope knew each other, they still learned new things about each other in this book.

I liked seeing the development of Colin and Penelope’s relationship and how they interacted with other characters.

The side characters could have been shown a bit more often but I liked how most of them were shown at the end because their interactions were funny (I can’t wait to read Hyacinth’s book and Lady Danbury was one of my favourite characters in this book). When Colin made the announcement about Penelope (who was Lady Whistledown), I wanted to see more of the individual Bridgerton family members’ reactions.

I really liked that this book didn’t finish as soon as Colin and Penelope got married. I really liked how they still had to adjust to living together and working things out.

There were some misunderstandings/miscommunications but I liked that they were dealt with quickly so it didn’t bother me.

I think the only reasons why I can’t give this book a 5 star are because I wanted to see a bit more of the side characters throughout this book (Eloise was Penelope’s best friend and Penelope’s reason for why she knew the Bridgertons so well and she wasn’t shown in enough detail) and I thought that Colin and Penelope’s marriage was a bit quick. They have been sort of friends for a long time and then there is about two or three chapters between the time that Colin realises that he has feelings for Penelope and when they get married.

i was so damn bored , colin was my fave brother in the previous books but after reading this i wanted to punch him so badly

I had high hopes for this book and I feel like I left with mixed emotions. I thought their story was cute but I felt like Colin’s anger was overdone. I felt like she could have included it but it was just too frequent and much for my liking. Loved the rest of the book and seeing them as a married couple. Not my favorite of the series but still good.

A great quote to summarize the disaster that was this book, featuring Colin Bridgerton, a second-hand copy of Anthony Bridgerton permanently stuck in his asshole era, and Penelope Featherington, a writer with perhaps sometimes reasonable opinions but who cannot possibly say them out loud over the agonizing course of four hundred pages. 

The anger in me comes from the place of my heart that adores these characters on the tv show. They're cute and funny and lovely and, I know, I may be biased, but it annoyed me to no degree that Colin was transformed into this envy, immature love interest that had more to say about things that weren't his business than anyone in the Brigderton books. From the bottom of my heart... 

What the actual fuck?

The story centers around the Whistledown revelation, but it goes on and on and on and on for so long, that I couldn't care less about it by the end of the book. Where is Colin with his funny jokes and consistent charisma that appears in the previous books? Why does Penelope have to lose weight for her to be finally seen by him? Why does she have to rely on Colin to choose her path in life? Didn't she make her own decisions for over twelve years with solid, huge success?(view spoiler)[Why does it matter so much who is Lady Whistledown if by the second epilogue her best friend is going to brush it off like it was nothing but it was kept hidden from her for over a decade??? (hide spoiler)]

The only good thing about this book was the apparition of other characters (view spoiler)[(I loved that he asked Daphne for advice, Anthony for support, and Kate was seen taking care of her children) (hide spoiler)] but to think second characters (in bold letters, I speak only of Hyacinth, smartass precious one) carried more of this plot than the poorly executed main ones just infuriates me. 

Is jealousy trendy now? Does Colin only have hunger as a personality trait? Wouldn't Penelope have interesting, quick-witted remarks about society during her own story? Why does the second epilogue give spoilers of book five and no warning about it?

Where's the damn mirror scene I thought would come and never did?

I seriously hope the tv show does a better job on these characters than this. I had fun, yes, but at what cost??? AT WHAT COST. They had so much potential. I'm so angry right now. They deserve more chemistry than stale biscuits Colin forgot to eat or the lost pages of Lady Whistledown no one cares for anymore.

This book is a slay. I can definitely see why it gets the hype that it gets! BUT if there is one trope that I DESPISE, it’s the jealous partner trope. It makes me highly irritated. I’ll give the book points because if I was an aspiring writer and I found out my partner was the best writer London has seen in a decade, I would definitely be a little jealous too, but I’d be damned if I let it influence any of behavior towards them!!! I’m glad Colin got his little redemption when he let Penelope know that he was proud of her and it seemed like he truly was, but boy, couldn’t we get that earlier in the book!? 

Penelope is amazing. She is so smart and sweet, but cunning as well. She has way more than meets the eye but at the same time, you know what she’s about. This couple makes me so happy because if anyone deserves everything that they wanted, it’s Penelope Featherington. 

Like in the previous books, the Bridgerton banter is amazing. I love all of the scenes with interactions between Bridgertons, it truly warms my heart and is making me attached. I love the scenes in the drawing room at No. 5 with the girls, Violet, and Kate. The banter is extraordinary.

Also, fuck Cressida Cowper. Slimy, hairball, jealous ass bitch. I’m done with her, please no more talk about her. 

Yes to the Lady Danbury and Penelope duo! Love. To. See. It. 

Colin being a glutton? Like ok? Go off characterization. It’s funny, can’t deny but it’ll be even funnier in the TV format for sure. 

Thoroughly enjoyed this one and had little qualms with it.

OK, I think I´ve just found my favorite Bridgerton Brother.

After I finished watching S2 of Bridgerton Series on Netflix, I wanted to know more about Penelope and Colin, so I came across this beautiful book and decided to give it an opportunity.
I completely loved the way we could see a whole new side of Colin on this book. It was a pretty amazing ride, getting to know both his good and bad side. 

I´m not going to give you any spoiler, but let me just say that you´ll enjoy it SOOOO much.

#1 and only reason you should read it: COLIN AND PENELOPE, THE BEST FRIENDS TO LOVERS CLICHE

Muito fofoooooo!!! Nunca achei que fosse gostar tanto de um romance de época, mas me surpreendi. É super fluído, leve e engraçado. Me apaixonei pela Penelope de cara ( e pelo Colin também). Foi um livro fora da minha zona de conforto, mas que abriu possibilidades pra possíveis futuras leituras.

i think polin are far from the most offensive couple; both are much more likeable in the book but they are, unfortunately, boring. colin also really needs to sort his shit out.

that being said, hilarious to me that they are, technically, a blogger couple.
