I struggled through this, but liked most of the stories. The Favorite and After The One were my favorites, which came at known surprise since Marlee and America are my favorite characters. A lot of times it was just the same scene as from the series just a different character, which I know was the point I just struggled through it more than I expected to. Overall, it was good.

It was a fun way to see the story’s through the perspective of different characters eyes. You see how they feel about things.

           The Queen
This was...so nice? Maybe I got numb by reading The One, but I did like this one a lot. It is so sad though, I liked Queen Amberly and after reading this I was so sad that she had died, especially to protect that disgusting Clarkson (I actually LOLed when she said she'd take a bullet for him, but that would never happen).

Amberly was so sweet and so in love, you could tell she would try to see the best in everyone, and being so naive was her undoing. Clarkson is so manipulative, I hated when he told her to cut her hair, and I hated him even more when he revealed he did this to all contestants. SO MANIPULATIVE! Even the way he reacted to seeing his parents fighting, you can tell he is pretty violent and needs therapy asap.
I think this story really touched me because I was in a similar relationship, and I can see myself in Amberly when she is so hopeful and so willing to love, and I can also see the red flags in Clarkson's behaviour that could predict his future as a tyrant and violent husband/father.

I will risk saying this but...maybe...I prefer this story to the three main books.


The Prince and The Guard
I think these two were quite useless. They didn't really show much more than was not shown in the main books.
As for Maxon's novella, it was good to see a bit of him before the Selection, but the whole part of him meeting America and talking to all the girls didn't show a single thought he had that we couldn't guess from America's POV.
As for Aspen, that was rather meh too, nothing was added to the story and I feel that it was a bit unnecessary.

The Favourite
This was better than the previous two, mainly because we get to see Marlee after America was chosen. I was really let down Marlee was barely mentioned at the wedding and America had a single short thought about her being there, and nothing more. I really wanted to see her being reinstated, and was happy that she and Carter were the first official casteless people.

Scenes from Celeste
These were interesting. I liked how she changed her mind and her aims, and it made me think, I would have enjoyed the series more if it was with multiple POV's. Imagine seeing Celeste's growth alongside her actions, it would be SO INTERESTING. I wish all main characters were given some chapters in the books, the story would be richer.

The Maid
This was...meh? I didn't really care to know more about Aspen and Lucy's relationship, and would rather this was about Lucy's past and personality, as she wasn't really well-developed in the main series. Even when Aspen tells her how important and great she is, I was just confused because she appears to have none of those qualities from her scenes in the book.
