I originally read this volume way back when I binged through the first 3 seasons of the My Hero Academia anime. I thought it was amazing then, and I think it's amazing now.

It isn't the best volume out of the bunch, but for a first volume, it did its job of making me want more very well. I'm excited to learn more about this world, either from a new perspective or for the first time in later volumes.

A fun blend of superhero and young adult coming of age themes. Midoriya our protagonist is a poignant example of someone with the drive to do good but without the advantages more common to those he is growing up around. 
For those who may already be familiar with the anime it is still an enjoyable story to revisit and catch some of the notes by the author and artist.

This was just as I expected! Fun, lighthearted! There were a couple times that I found the art style to be a little confusing; where I couldn't tell if the thought/word bubbles were actual thoughts or words being spoken. But after a bit I got use to it and found the art to be really rad. Excited to pick up the second volume!

I saw My Hero Academic pop up into my feed years ago and I was honestly curious about it. I heard a lot of people talk it up, but I never was able to find it in my book travel adventures. Then, lucky my discovered NetGalley (for the second time) and located this little gem! I was so pumped to finally be able to pick this up since I love manga and superheroes.

In this somewhat dystopian world, almost all of the population have super powers. These powers, known as "quirks" can be managed and controlled and then used to save the universe! There's heroes and villains everywhere, and they are constantly battling. At four years old, kids begin to show their powers and they learn to master them. There are hero academies to hone your skills, and our lead really wants powers and really wants to help people. Lucky him, a big time superhero finds him and wants to take him under his wing...

This book is serious fun. The pictures are amazing, the plot is interesting and the characters are cool to follow. There's non-stop action and fun around every corner and I found myself just binging the whole thing (I did not intend to, but it just kinda happened). I'd like to pick up the rest of this series if I can ever find them, because I enjoy Kohei Horikoshi's story telling abilities (and the illustrations are just super cool). I can tell the world in this manga is only going to get cooler, since this is just the first volume. I hope I get to see the world building and character development flourish in the future! 

If you love X-Men, the Avengers and DC, you'll love these books. It's action packed and loads of fun. I honestly enjoyed the way I was able to sink into this book and just disappear from reality for a while. It helps that the book was easy to follow and easy to read. The worst part is I'm not used to the names used in this book and I don't know how to pronounce them, which is hardly a fault of the book. On top of that, I can only assume this series is going to get better. The first volume is like the pilot episode of a television show. We get an introduction to the world and the characters, and eventually we get released into the magic of the universe.

Comprehensively formulaic (hero school with wimp protagonist) but it's a likeable formula. None of the consistency or logical stretching you'd want to take it seriously. (How does the hero economy work? Who pays for the destroyed arenas? You might think I'm being petty, but One Punch Man does both the economics and the perverse social dynamics in its stride.)

Lately, I’ve been really annoyed with how special some main characters have to be just to survive the plot that their author throws at them, and MHA has been a welcome change. Even though Deku is obviously special because he’s trying to be a quirkless hero, he doesn’t ever have anything handed to him - he works incredibly hard to earn everything. I’m super excited to see where the rest of the manga goes, especially with meeting the other characters and then seeing them all grow into their own

BNHA's unique blend of American and Japanese tropes and styles made this a far more refreshing and interesting read. From the major character development, engaging content and overall storyline, it became more than apparent as I read along why readers are so drawn to this manga series.
 
I will strongly advise picking this volume up as it is a great introductory piece to the manga and anime series. It will allow you as the reader to know the origins of Midoriya, his lack of powers, why he wants to become the next All Might and what led him to be the strong, inspiring superhero he has always dreamt of becoming.

this volume really had me on the edge of my seat, especially with where vol. 26 had left off. what i appreciated the most about this volume is that both morality and mortality amongst heroes and villains are explored. i also liked that this is another volume that doesn’t focus on deku as much and highlights other heroes within the world!

another great installment with this one, and the anticipation of what was going to happen with *redacted* was a struggle (in the best way). there was a lot of action in this one, but the few scenes that contained good dialogue were heart wrenching. once or twice i got emotional reading some of the panels! i can’t wait to read vol. 29 to see what happens next!!

I really enjoyed this! I might not finish the series because I heard the Anime is really similar, but I enjoyed it while it lasted! The main character was really lovable and I loved that he wasn't afraid to express his emotions. Interesting story and great storytelling!

Bakugo never gives anyone a break, and the crowd holds its breath as the battle begins. The finals will push the students of Class 1-A to their limits and beyond!
