I'd read a lot about the Curly Girl method online, but wanted to know what the original source said. I picked up a couple of things I didn't know from this book, such as not using clarifying washes ever (lots of bloggers suggest clarifying every now and then, even using shampoo with sulphates, so I'm still unsure about that point). But overall I didn't get a whole lot out of it that I didn't already know. Still, the method itself seems like a great starting point for curly hair, and I think it's fair to pay for the original source, even if lots of the information is freely available online now.

From Wikipedia: The Curly Girl Method is an approach to hair care designed for naturally curly hair that has not been chemically relaxed. While variations of the method had been in use before then, in 2001 it was introduced to a wider audience by hairstylist Lorraine Massey.

I'm glad this book was free from Amazon Prime members, I wouldn't want to complain that it's not worth the money.
I thought this book would be more theory behind the method but it's mostly a collection of stories of people who discovered the curly girl method and their life changed forever (which I skimmed through) and text and photo descriptions of techniques (which is like trying to describe a youtube video in a book - doesn't really work).
Don't want to minimize the significance of the book that inspired so many people but there are so many other resources on this method now that are more helpful.

Very informative. Some of the stuff she recommends to do or not to do really depends on your hair type (for example I still use shampoo and my curls are fine). Wish she had included some hairstyles for curly hair aside from wearing it down.
