This is how criminals think, I see now. We tell ourselves other people have backed us into a corner and we're simply reacting, co-operating, surviving. And we're so convincing we believe it.

There were three hydrangeas, one for each of us remaining Lawsons, though I don't think that had occurred to Alison when she bought them. She'd bought them because interior designers said you should always arrange things in threes.

Of course, if I had ny time again I probably wouldn't touch a thing. Id concentrate on the humans. I'd re-purpose them before they destroyed themselves.

The house sheltered us and protected us, but it also defined us. It kept us current long after our expiry date.

Wasn't gripped straight away by this one, found it really hard to get into and keep reading. However there are some really good twists in this and it didn't end how I was expecting at all. By the time I got half way through I couldn't put it down. I do wish I found out exactly what happened at the end as it did leave it a bit open - no spoilers. If you are reading keep going it is worth it!

           This was ok. Not as twisty or mysterious as I expected, especially since the publisher’s description made it sound like there was something up with the house itself. Other than being a quite beautiful house on a lovely street, the house itself was not at fault. But the owners — those who placed more value on the house than, let’s say, their marriage — well, that’s another story.

It was well written and the plot was very interesting. I liked the different view points of both Bram and fi. However I did find that it was slow and most chapters were just repeats of the plot over and over again. I feel like this book just wasn't my style and I was just bored reading it. But I do think people who are into documentary style books would enjoy this.

This was an okay thriller. I think it was longer than it needed to me and the plot pretty much crawled along. Overall I enjoyed the reading experience and the switching of perspectives. The characters were extremely unlikeable but I think that's the point to some degree. It was very predictable in places but some twists did catch me off guard. This is good if you're in the mood for a lighter thriller.

Als Fiona Lawson op een dag thuiskomt ziet ze dat er een verhuiswagen voor haar woning staat, en dat onbekende mensen spullen naar binnen aan het brengen zijn. Er moet sprake zijn van een vreemd misverstand. Maar als ze het verhuizende stel hierop wil wijzen, komt ze erachter dat al háár spullen uit het huis verdwenen zijn. De nieuwe bewoners weten niet beter dan dat ze het huis voor flink wat geld hebben gekocht, en dat Fiona en haar ex-man Bram de verkoopakte ondertekend hebben.

Als Bram vervolgens spoorloos verdwenen blijkt kan Fiona niet anders dan op zoek gaan naar de oorsprong van deze nachtmerrie. Stukje bij beetje ontrafelt ze een wirwar aan leugens en verraad, totdat de schokkende waarheid boven tafel komt
