A really fun book to read, especially with the detective breaking the 4th wall and including the reader...quite dissapointed with that ending though unfortunately :(

It is New Year’s Eve, and Abigail has organised a murder mystery party for her brother Benjamin’s birthday. Their friends, old and new, gather at a rented Airbnb in resplendent 1920s costumes for an elaborate Jazz Age mystery, which was a success thanks to Abigail’s meticulous planning. However, the following morning, everyone gathers for breakfast except Benjamin; he remains in his locked room, lying dead. The police conclude suicide, but Abigail struggles to accept that outcome. In turn, the plot diverges into two paths, one of which is Abigail submerged in grief and struggling to cope, while in the other, an eminent Golden Age detective arrives in the original timeline to investigate Benjamin’s death. 

is an intricately crafted, idiosyncratic book that is difficult to categorise. It is reminiscent of Agatha Christie and Cluedo with the locked room element at the forefront, but it is also a recursive murder mystery, with a story contained within another, creating a multi-layered narrative. It is conspicuous among the saturated genre, perfect for readers looking for a distinct locked room mystery with an immersive element.
