Why the Church?
Giussani (professor emeritus, U. Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan) is a founder of the Catholic lay movement Communion and Liberation. In this work, originally published in Italian as Perche la chiesa?, he discusses issues of faith in an age of rationalism--the mystery of the communion of believers. He explores the Catholic Church's definition of itself as both human and divine, and argues that a different type of existence is born in those who try to live the life of the Church. c.
