4 ★ - (really liked it)

A simple fairytale with gorgeous illustrations :) I have yet to read the full version since I believe this is only an adaption, but I like it quite a lot! My mom read this book aloud to my siblings and I years ago and I remember the story coming to life in my imagination, a mix of the illustrations and the words... the great green dragon towering over the knight and the sound it roaring and exhaling fire around him. Tales of courage like this one, with triumph and true love as the ending, are some of my favorites :)


CWs, or things that caught my attention: mentions/descriptions of fairies; a handful of illustrations depicting some odd looking fairies, a severed tail, and some blood.

Saint George and the Dragon is meant to be a children's retelling of a more adult story, but it lacks necessary simplicity for a child to understand on their own and it lack any explanation of the lore to someone who isn't familiar with the stories of magical England. The illustrations are lovely, but I really do feel this wasn't truly written with children in mind.
