The book purports to present evidence that Dorothy Kilgallen was murdered. Much of the evidence presented is based on hearsay; for example, wives stating what they were told by their husbands. The argument would be much more compelling if more of the living witnesses, such as Dr. Michael Baden, had been willing to be interviewed on the record. The author seems skeptical that Kilgallen could have died of an accidental overdose from combining sleeping medication and alcohol, but anyone who has watched a few episodes of the tv show "Autopsy: The Last Hours of..." will understand how easily and how often that actually happens. The book presented lots of interesting information, but I can't say it proved to me Kilgallen was murdered. I am open to the possibility, but not convinced.
