Marked by Midnight A Midnight Breed Novella

3-3.5 Stars It's always really hard for me to give novellas a high rating. I do LIKE that Adrian writes novellas in between the novels that actually carry the series along. It's nice to be able to catch up with side characters (esp. when they're characters that fans particularly like). Unfortunately for me, it's been so long since I've read the Midnight Breed series 1-11, that I really wouldn't quite remember who Mathias was... (lol sorry). That just made it a little more difficult to connect to him in such a short amount of time. Of course, Nova is a completely new character so I also would have preferred even a TINY bit more character development on her half... In general I liked the novella. It was short and sweet and I'm happy Mathias found someone. I liked the twist that the (view spoiler)[killer was someone that Mathias actually knew a trusted. (hide spoiler)] And I liked that Nova had a troubled past and would pass on Oz's love and care to Eddie. Again, I think this just had to do with the fact it was so short, but I really didn't like how this story covered the span of two days... Like... you're really going to fall in love and have someone become your life long mate through interacting over two nights?? Also I would've liked it more if (view spoiler)[the killer didn't just randomly stumble upon Nova and need to kill her and Eddie as a way to tie up lose ends... It would've been so much more interesting if it was actually someone from her past trying to reach her. (hide spoiler)] Over all it was a fairly solid novella. I feel like I would've liked it a lot more if I only remembered Mathias better lol

Of course this was a quick read (took me about 1 day) I started this book late one night and did not want to put it down but I needed sleep haha. So Nova and Mathias make a great fiery couple since they are both strong willed individuals. Nova has a deep secret to hide and she wants to protect everyone from it. Although I would have loved for more detail into her childhood and what actually took place I was able o get the idea. I love this series and cannot wait for more
