it was a cute, quick read. tbh, at first, it was really promising, but then it kinda fell flat after a few chapters. i like that the characters have strong morals though.

           A fun romance overall with minimal angst! 

What may put you off: 
- Done with the book, I couldn't tell you much about the characters, nor do I feel strongly for them.
- Not much romantic tension/ chemistry between the characters 
- Slightly dragged on sans preamble 
- Lack of communication, but not in a "yes bring me some delicious misunderstandings" way

I really liked many things about this book: the fact that the main characters were a Chinese American lesbian and a Jewish bisexual woman, the fact that it dealt with sexual harassment in the workplace and in Hollywood, that it talked about the right and wrong kind of visibility for minorities in the media and the adorable romance between the main characters. 

However, I felt like a couple of things could've been better. The main characters both seemed a little flat to me which is generally a common feature of books within the romance genre so I suppose it's more acceptable but in this case I sometimes felt like I wanted them to be a bit more. The other thing was that the whole book was this sizzling simmering romance and I felt like that maybe dragged on for a bit too long and culminated in not a big enough of a bang. The last thing is that there was just a bit too much miscommunication or rather a lack of communication between the MCs that was used to drive the plot forward and I am never a fan of miscommunication as a plot device. It seems a bit lazy and it's very frustrating to read.

All in all though the book was cute and a great addition to the small list of wlw romance books.

Ok i love the queer romance but i did have some trouble with the boss-employee bit, and a few of the plot points felt forced. But the final pages with Jo & Emma?! More of that plz!

Okay, so I think this book was nice. I like seeing more queer romance story's that feel more "straight" or "mainstream". I just found the two main characters kind of.. passionless for each other?

I do believe there can be more subdued romances and that those can be really enjoyable for a lot of people! I also am very excited to see queer romances that are more subdued and normalized, because IT IS COMPLETELY NORMAL. It just wasn't quite the kind of romance I usually enjoy, but I am glad I read it!

I would recommend it for anyone who wants to dip their toes into romance or queer romance. I think certain issues are handled very well and that it's written well! :)

5 stars | I don't know why I slept on this book for so long! It was amazing and the end was kinda sexy 🥵 There was none of that random drama to bring the two mains together and it had some of my favourite tropes: age gap romance, sorta fake relationship and a Hollywood setting.

the perfect feel-good love story to escape with this summer

I really wanted to like this book, but the whole thing was just so drawn out for me. I liked the story line and the general idea. I enjoyed the characters, however Emma came off as very young/childish with some of her interactions and conversations. Overall it was an okay read, but wasn’t something I was crazy about.

first read of my pride month sapphic read-a-thon (yes i made this up)!!! this simply could not have been more up my alley, a middle aged actress falling in love with her assistant? i mean hello! emma literally living my dream - i am THRILLED about this author joining the sapphic writing genre, especially given the buzz about their next book out in october - there were a few times where i was incredibly frustrated with these characters and just wanted to scream at them to actually have a conversation with one another, and although i really do wish the book included more of their eventual relationship, the “everything comes full circle”, carolness of that ending really did warm my heart 
(as i wrote at the very end of the book in one of my signature pens: “:) <3 i love gay people!” )

This book was so cute. I will warn readers that this is a boss and employee romance. The characters were so much fun and the story was so sweet. I’m not a romance reader really, but I just loved this book.

Librarian: In the last 10 years LGBT romances have exploded across the YA market. A whole generation of teen readers have gotten used to having romances as diverse as they are. Well now those teenagers are growing up, and they want that same level of diversity in the adult romances they read. 'Something to Talk About' is a good one to hand them. It's as much frothy fun as any other Hollywood romance on the market, and it has at least some of the diverse content that the upcoming generation of adult romance readers have come to expect.
Reader: This one made me smile right from the first page. I only read romance sporadically, but I was in the mood for something lighter. This delivered. It hit all the beats I was expecting it to, but that was perfectly alright with me. Jo and Emma are adorable and a good Hollywood romance can be a real pleasure.

Ok so yes Jo and Emma are great characters and I love the relationship they were starting, but that just it they were just starting it and I felt like ok now that they started this great relationship why the hell did the book just ended. There were great lead up scenes and I liked the slow burn aspect but I just couldn’t get over that you get 5 pages of a maybe relationship, need more. Like how graciously they went through the relationship and Jo as a boss didn’t want to push Emma into anything. Like the cute moments with the asthma attack and at the SAG awards

a sapphic slowburn with a lot of the miscommunication trope, but really well done that it’s just the right amount of frustration.

           I was going to rate this book much lower buttt I have to admit that the last fifty pages really make up for the rest of the book. The story was super cute but it constantly included my least favorite trope, miscommunication. The majority of the book was pretty slow and basically just circled the same few plot lines over and over again. Also, I’ve learned that I am definitely not a fan of romance books in which the characters don’t admit they have feelings for each other until the very end. The first 85% of the book was just kind of unnecessary. I really liked the characters but the pace was just way too slow for me.

- a super quick and enjoyable read
- a good amount of gay yearning. this book also features one of the SLOWEST burn romances i've ever read which, of course, is not necessarily a bad thing. however, i wished that the book spent more time exploring Jo and Emma as a couple
- the main romance has an age gap (Jo is 41 and Emma is 27) and while i'm not a huge fan of age gaps, i can appreciate how the book dealt directly with how these kinds of relationships are perceived. it also dealt with the slight power dynamic that exists between the two women what with Jo being Emma's boss
- unfortunately, this book had one of my pet peeves—conflict caused by miscommunication. and as much as i liked the yearning that stemmed from the tension, i just had a hard time wrapping my head around why the conflict even happened in the first place
- in addition to the romance, the book does touch upon some important topics, particularly the presence of sexual harassment in the film industry.

Hubiera preferido otro pov de Jo antes de cerrar dado que ella es la última en cerrar su arco de personaje. La última última escena me gustó, pero,,, todo el último capítulo final como que ,,, no sé no se me ocurre que otra cosa podrían haber hecho pero sentí que le faltó peso. Maybe I'm just Too Ace For It lmao Pero nada, igual 10/10, la pasé re bien, hubo un semi tornado mientras leía los últimos y ni me enteré, creo que no puedo darle un mayor compliment que ese.
