i think on the concept of love, there can be a tendency to wonder once in a while - what more is there to say? what else can be uncovered? and i don't think this book tries to be novel, or ground-breaking, or even wrapped up in overly clinical language. 'be not afraid of love' feels a bit like a homecoming, like an open door. it's honest in ways that feel intimate, and in a culture that can drive home this idea of hyper-individualism, i think it's a gentle reminder of the importance of community. and yet, it provides a truth that community alone only goes as far as your willingness to engage with it.
