Haunting, brave and a brutal read. Every portion of this is riveting from Nadia's childhood stories, lessons about Yazidism, to her captivity and escape. I first heard her story in a documentary in 2018, and while it was good, reading her story from her perspective was a magnitude more empowering.

This story is devastating, yet so important. The fact that Nadia has decided to fight for her people and others persecuted by ISIS, after everything she has been through, is incredibly inspiring. This is one of those books I think everyone needs to read. It’s a story that needs to be heard, actually heard.
