i keep going back and forth on this book. I didn't know anything about FLW and Mamah before I started reading this book, and I found it hard to really feel for the characters because...well, they were having affairs, but the ending... the ending blew my mind. I wasn't expecting it at all, and I felt like it came out of nowhere. So... 3 stars.

Not only does it delve into the possible personality and motives of Mamah, but complex questions are posed concerning balancing following your heart and your dreams and being responsible and taking care of your obligations. Frank was a creative genius who spent beyond his means and cheated on his wife and his 6 children. Mamah left her husband and 2 children to live with Frank in a time where divorce was scandalous.

Not much is factually known of Mamah's life and this is a good speculative, historical fictionalized novel.
