I didn’t want to finish this book, I loved it

This was a five-star, favorite, addictive read with so many angst and longing… and then Alex showed up and dropped it back to a four.

I like Alex, but the story was going in such a fun direction, and I was sucked in and … then the rest of the story happened.

Emory and Will became side characters of their own story, with all the previous characters and Alex taking up too much of the story, especially the intimate scenes. They literally barely interacted after the first half of the book. The other characters were taking up too much room.

50% of the story was 10/10, five stars... then the rest was whatever.

Will and Emory were my favorite of the couples, so the first 340 pages was absolute fire for me. I loved the flashbacks and also the story inside Blackchurch. I stayed up super late reading, because I couldn’t stop at the first 50%.

Once they left Blackchurch, I was disappointed.

It had amazing foundation and then dropped off.

Don’t know why so many other characters were involved in a majority of the intimate scenes, especially Alex. We had like two scenes with so much angst, passion, and longing of the two of them together alone and then group sex!? Huh?!

With the person you hate and has been in love with your man? Huh?

Alex, miss thing, this wasn’t your book, please go away!

I wanted more of what the Blackchurch greenhouse was giving.

The train scene made me uncomfy, and I’ve read a lot of saucy romances. But it was actually icky. I physically put down the book for a few minutes because I got the ick and knew what was happening once Alex asked for the dang shoes. I needed the strength to get through it.

The intimate scenes of the two of them were so personal, and the group stuff and other scenes felt so sterile, cold, and just plan smutty for the heck of it. I didn’t feel their love. Will was just there. Could’ve been a cardboard cutout at that point. Gave nothing of their earlier scenes.

Too many people; give me the angst from the first 50%!

Also, I thought it was kind of weird that it barely touched his drinking and drug use. That was basically all they talked about with him in the rest of the series. He was always blacked out or drunk, and they never really talked about it here. It was like in one flashback, but he wasn’t drunk, and then he was cured from being off of it for a year? Weird. That was kind of his characterization in the other books.

Ultimately left me disappointed because the first half was serving, and then the quality dropped quickly.

I will be pondering this disappointment and let down for a while; it will haunt me. I haven’t read one to this level in quite some time.

my dear emmy deserved sm better, i relate to her sm and will he also deserve sm better the angst is fucking incredible, there is some plot that doesn't matter but we can live it.

will is so freaking hot, i tell you. emmy? she's a warrior, a certified and unattainable for one. this book feels like a treasure of what's missing in the previous book. i really love it and at several scenes, warms my heart. i love everything about this book; the friendship, the character development, just everything. 

though, this book makes me love damon even more. their dynamic? the bromance and sexual confusion, they're fruity for each other. twisted in anyway, so lovable.

i love emmy's pov the most; homegirl been anywhere she wasn't supposed to be, her pov is sooooo adventurous yet so heartbreaking. the scene where she made will blindfold himself so he didn't see her bruises. I FUCKING HATE MARTIN.

read the rest of series to pass time but i was not enjoying any of it LMFAO

I actually loved this book way more than I expected. It was so refreshing to finally see a fmc so dominating and powerful (not saying the other cowgirls weren't, they very much were) and not be so quick to forgive the horsemen for some of the shit things they did to them. This book really tied the whole series together, and while it did take a little longer to finish, the way Emory gets to witness little scenes from the other novels is so sweet (Nikova getting into the confessional with Kai, Damon and Winter riding the motorbike e.t.c). It loses a star for the most confusing ending. Especially with all the children they end up having, and this random little girl running around with Rika and Micheal, there were just too many names to remember. It got to a point where it was a who's who and I'd say I'd need to draw up a family tree before the novella. All and all a great book to finish the majority of the series, and I'm excited to start to read the end.

I think emory and will might be my favourite couple

Emory - I LOVE her sm (i feel like all the girls are top tier). I really empathised with her and saw myself in a lot of her thoughts. She tortured herself for years because she didn’t trust anyone and thought she was all alone in the world. I felt connected to her but she could definitely still hold her own. I loved the way she witnessed so many history making scenes, it just really made the series and her so much better. I was OBSSESSED with her relationship with Damon and Alex.  

Will - OMGGG he exceeded all expectations in this book. i feel like we really did get a whole other side to will in this book and i really enjoyed it. He’s like my joint 1st boy. He’s funny, caring, loyal and hotttt 

I’m not gonna talk about the other character too much cause i’ll do that in my novella review buttttt

This books spice was more out there in terms of it being in groups and peoples sexuality, it wasn’t all boy / girl. But i really enjoyed it still, although it was a bit too much for my little brain at some points and caught me so off guard.

Despite it being over 700 pages, this book didn’t feel too slow paced or boring, it had me completely interested the

finally…damn it almost took me 20 days reading this…anyways. LOVE WILLEMMY, they’re so 🥹🥹🥹 and love their story!! this is the second best from the devil’s night imo. and damn i love how everyone is here and taking emory into their group even though she feels like she’s from the outside and not close from anyone. in short i just love how every character bonds with each other. they’re truly a family😭 AND PLEASE THE KIDSSSSS IM GOING TO CRY

Okay... I feel like all the reviews I made for this series clearly express my discontentment with it, so I'd rather this one by saying that so far this is the best book, in my opinion.
I was rather interested on how the events were being shown and because Emory has been mentioned plenty of times in the previous books, I was also very curious to see why Will was so in love with her. And I get it, they have a very interesting story and it's quite nice to one of the four horsemen actually trying to be nice to the fmc when they showed the first interested - Not like all the other three who thought abuse was nice. 

However, the constant need to ruin the relationships with miscommunication, poor written and explained scenes that absolutely make no sense and the focus on the characters be in love with each other but for some reason want to sleep with another character just so they "feel seen" is quite stupid to me. 
And don't get me started on how the ending was so confusing... What was the need to add so much? Keep it simple. 

The biggest surprise of this book is how Damon is the one saying the most accurate things ever. Who would've thought that was possible, hm. 

Anyways, I'm happy I'm almost done with this series.
