** spoiler alert ** T^T π - that's polymath by this 📚 Learned about functional fixedness, cognitive bias called Einstellung effect. 📚 Is filled with few facts and that's it. Opens perspective that's it's enough master 4 skills for to be in top of 25% each, that's common tune being generalist, for me nothing new. Definitely you will carry few new peaks, but 📚 won't transform you ;) ≥Rather than focusing on one scope, polymaths learn to do a little or a lot of almost everything. ≥One of the mental traits that set polymaths apart is their adaptability. ≥Generally, people have preconceptions about what they believe they can or cannot achieve. They think that they have all it takes to accomplish some goals but that there are certain goals and dreams beyond their reach. Unfortunately, these ideas tend to become self-fulfilling prophecies that hold people back from living their lives to the fullest. ≥You inadvertently reduce your creative problem-solving skill by labeling yourself an expert. The deeper you dive into a single field in pursuit of expertise, the harder it is to see other methods, approaches, and viewpoints beyond your own. Psychologists call this phenomenon the Einstellung effect. Einstellung is a German word that roughly translates to “a way of thinking or acting.” ≥in order to evolve and become a better version of ourselves, we must let go of our old, easy habits, embrace uncertainty, and give up immediate gratification. ≥Today, in this age of information technology, learning and becoming a polymath is easier than it’s ever been. Thanks to the Internet, anybody anywhere can access a vast number of resources online. However, this unprecedented access to information has a downside. It has led to an unparalleled increase in competition. If you mastered a particular skill, there is a high chance that there are many other people who have done the same. ≥The concept of skill stacking is all about becoming proficient in multiple areas which work well together. Hence, instead of striving towards extreme proficiency, trying to put yourself in the top 1% of a certain field, all you have to do is aim to be in the top 5–15% in four or five disciplines.
