It is difficult to write the synopsis of this novel without making it look boring. Because this novel is basically what the title says: the story of Phineas Finn, an Irish member. It doesn't sound very appealing, but I found it to be a good novel, written in good English, with character development, realistic and entertaining. The parts about politics were boring for me because I caannot understand a thing, but they don't enter into details. 

So, I'll try again. This novel is the story of Phineas Fin, a young Irish man, son of a country doctor and with no money. He leaves his law studies aside to pursue a career in politics. This means that he will deal with the high classes of the British society, with powerfull men and women. It is a process in which he will form his conscience and find where his heart lies, and decide wether to follow it.

It still doesn't sound, probably, like something you would like to read. But I encourage you to give it a go, and maybe you won't be disappointed.
