The Son of Neptune: The Graphic Novel (The Heroes of Olympus, Book 2)
Reviews

As is my Goal for Any Series I start this year, I need to continue until I finish or decide it’s not for me and after loving Book 1I was super excited to dive right into book 2 and what a rite this book was full of twists, turns and adventure right from the world go!
Percy Jackson is back but he's in another camp of demigods, the Camp Jupiter. He's with the other demigods while having a retrograde amnesia. Hazel Levesque is a dead daughter of Hades but is resurrected for redemption. Frank Zhang is a shapeshifter and is an unexpected son of Ares. These three embark on a quest as far as Alaska to rescue the God of Death from an arrogant giant, Alcyoneus
It’s clear just how much passion Rick Riordan has in terms of writing and brings his characters to life on the page. Though the demigods face otherworldly situations, they manage to seem like actual people you could meet on the street one day (and then immediately forget because the Mist is funny like that). I'm so glad to read another book about Percy and loved how far he has come since The Lightning Thief.
I loved getting to know the two new characters though, Hazel and Frank. Both characters are flawed, riddled with their own insecurities, secrets and longings. But they both also possess amazing (and quite stunning) abilities that come into play quite often during their quest. It's quite heartwarming to get to know them, watch them mature and experience their crazy quest with them.
I can't wait to see where he takes us next with this series.

WELCOME BACK PERCY JACKSON

hazel the people princess

I absolutely loved this book. How could I not? Percy Jackson is back!

-1 star because the pace was slower than The Lost Hero and the PJO series and there was less action

Leo!

Percy Jackson my beloved

FIRST READ: October 13, 2012 OH MY SHIT, PERCY JACKSON IS BAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank the Gods! Or Rick Riordan. anyways... So, yeah, I'm excited. This book is so Epic, I would give it the title of The Most Epic Book Ever. Unfortunately, I already gave that title to Insurgent. So I suppose we'll just have to settle for The Most Epic Book of ALL TIME. which is even better, when you think about it. So, yes, I got very annoyed at Nico in this book. Hello? Aren't you supposed to be friends with Percy? or at least Allies? At least acquaintances? And he shows up all amnesiac and is like, "Hey, I think I know you," but then you're like, "Nope. never seen you before in my life." Is it still the Bianca thing? Either way, Nico is sooo getting seriously strangled the next time I see him. Hazel: Her story is a lot like Piper's from book 1, except, you know, completely different. Frank: Oh, this kid is so awesome I can't even begin to say. Unfortunately, I'm in a committed relationship with Leo... Not that I'd actually date him, anyway. He and Hazel are too perfect of a couple to break up. I'm sure Aphrodite agrees with me. Percy Jackson: Percy Jackson. he requires no more explanation than that. Fave Quotes: "House Gods," Percy said. "Like... smaller than real gods, but larger than apartment gods?" -Percy Jackson on Lares, pg 31 Hazel was an expert on weird. She'd seen her mother possessed by an earth goddess. She'd created a giant out of gold. She'd destroyed an island, died, and come back from the Underworld. But getting kidnapped by a field of grass? That was new. -Hazel Levesque on Weird, pg 216 Also, Ella is the most Random and Awesome Harpy EVER.

omg finally finished this after getting distracted a Lot. missed percy & mostly crying over how much i love reyna

3,5

I live twenty miles away from Camp Jupiter, the Roman half-blood camp that Percy Jackson finds himself at in The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan. While it's not the first time Riordan has set one of his adventures in the Bay Area, it's the closet to home the adventures have ever come. A previous book, The Titan's Curse, is centered on Mount Tamalpais, a prominent feature of the North Bay. I don't know how accurate or humorous Camp Half Blood's placement somewhere on Long Island is. I've only been there once. The area above and around the Caldecott Tunnel (highway 24 as it runs between Berkeley/Oakland and Orinda/Moraga) strikes me as a hilarious place to hide both Camp Jupiter and the newest rendition of Rome. Currently the tunnel is getting a fourth bore to free up traffic but now I've taken to thinking of it as the secret entrance to the camp. Why not? Like Jason in The Lost Hero, Percy Jackson remembers his name but not much else. He's driven by unseen forces to the opening of Camp Jupiter, where he meets an old woman and passes the test necessary to gain entrance. There he is befriended by two odd balls — Hazel and Frank. Hazel has a huge secret she's hiding and an equally large chip on her shoulder. Frank is a klutz and so far hasn't been claimed by his father. As is always the case in Riordan's fantasies, there is a ticking countdown to world disaster if the brave heros can't finish their quest. The quest this time takes Percy, Hazel and Frank northwards. As ever, the adventure is a romp, full of crazy gods and monsters. It's a fun and quick read. I'm looking forward to reading The Mark of Athena.

Rating: 4.5 Ahhh this book was so good! I've forgotten how awesome Percy was. It was amazing! Percy Jackson fans won't be disappointed!

Reread. It was nice to have Percy’s pov back - it’s so funny

it started off slow imo but it ended up eating ... i love this trio honestly

i don't think i was ever more excited for what's to come while reading any of the previous books about percy jackson. after finishing this one, i am certain that the story and the troubles of characters are much more serious than in the preceding series. it makes me very jealous of people who started reading the story of percy jackson as kids and got to grow up with him. i loved the new characters who showed up for the first time in this book and missed all the characters that were mostly absent in it. can't wait for them all to meet and for what's else about to happen.

4 stars

Nothing beats Percy's POV!

percy is so hot annabeth MOVE.
fr though ... rick riordan's books (especially hoo) are such a masterclass at creating such colorful and enjoyable characters who are still so unique amd have such interesting journeys. not sure what else i can say but this is one of my fave percy books ever

SO PROUD OF PERCY!!!

4.5/5 this was waaay slower than the first but also i think it's a good pace for so many new additions. anyway i love hazel, frank and percy trio <333

if you can’t remember my name after your memories have been washed away by hera, then i don’t want you. percy is the standard.

I loved seeing Percy in a new setting and going on new adventures. I love the new characters and brining in diverse myths and legends.

Beginning at the "other" camp for half-bloods and extending as far as the land beyond the gods, this breathtaking second installment of the Heroes of Olympus series introduces new demigods, revives fearsome monsters, and features other remarkable creatures, all destined to play a part in the Prophecy of Seven. This book was an immediate improvement over the last book simply because it featured the return of Percy Jackson. I loved seeing Percy interacting with the Roman camp, and seeing Nico di Angelo go undercover to find him was interesting and satisfying. The introduction of the new characters was done well, and I fell in love with Hazel Levesque. This book's crew, Percy, Hazel and Frank stole my heart from page one and made me love them unconditionally. They are all so selfless and so beautifully flawed, it's almost impossible not to love them. Reyna’s character was very intriguing to me, and I knew instantly that I wanted more backstory on her. I was initially confused with some of the Roman and Greek gods and how they corresponded with each other, but I felt like that confusion really lends itself to the story as the gods themselves are also confused. The ending made me so excited for the two camps to finally meet, and I distinctly remember the wait for this book being agonizing. Overall, this book was a fun adventure and welcome addition to the Percy Jackson world and mythology.

« He threw one arm around Hazel and one arm around Frank. “Come on,” he said. “Let me introduce you to my other family. » i love them so much.
Highlights

After reading "The Lost Hero" it was a great relief to be back with Percy. On top of that, during this book he is just...EPIC!

Frank gripped his bow. "Yep, here's the trap."
Yeah well that was obviously going to happen

He'd perfected his wolf stare over the last few months -a look that said: However bad you think you are, l'm worse.

"And...ifI do something wrong?" "Then I get killed along with you," Hazel said. “Hungry? Let's eat."
Oh great

But he was pretty sure Rome wasn’t in California.
Haha yeah normally I would agree

Her name badge read: Hello! My name is Die,Demigod scum!
Oh I missed Percy so damn much

" "There's another camp- Camp Half-Blood" Just saying the name made Percy feel warm inside. Good memories washed over him: the smell of strawberry fields in the warm summer sun, fireworks lighting up the beach on the Fourth of July, satyrs playing panpipes at the nightly campfire and a kiss at the bottom of the canoe lake. "

"You do the easy thing, the appealing thing, the peaceful thing, mostly it turns our sour in the end. But if you take the hard path- ah, that's how you reap the sweet rewards. Duty. Sacrifice. They mean something."

"Life is only precious because it ends, kid."
