Janet is just like the most of us, with a family and a boyfriend who want her to be HAPPY!!
We all have been sad for times so I can understand the feeling, but for Janet her sadness is permanent.
she's not sad about her life, she's sad because of the world and what it became to.

when all the ppl around her are taking pills and get medicated to feel normal and happy maybe, she just embrace her sadness and do nothing about it.

I liked her a lot, I thought she's a great character.
It was a fun dark read.. depressing a little maybe. 
by the end of it I asked myself 
would I take the pills to get rid of my feelings, my sadness??

This is such an interesting little book.

Would you take a pill, knowing that it is made for people like you, who hate Christmas? Is your hate of Christmas ruining your life, ostracising you from your family and friends? Would you like to feel something when everyone is sitting around a dead tree with light bulbs on it? Well never fear, because big pharma has made the pill for you!

Poor Janet. And not because she may or may not have depression or some other kind of mood disorder, because the people in her life just suck. She's trying to navigate all of her feelings and preferences with family and a boyfriend wishing her to transform from what they presume is a slug, into a social butterfly. Yikes.

But Janet has a great mind, and her comments are witty and cracked me up on more than one occasion. I may have related to her too much to be unbiased, especially when it comes to attending family gatherings as the "outsider" relative. So many bad memories of social anxiety and just wanting to run away the minute I park. 😂

Definitely worth a read for its take on big pharma pushing drugs and disorders onto people. Creating problems that need to be solved with a pill, and the culture that developed from that.
