** spoiler alert ** Zimní království bylo osvobozeno, ale krušné chvilky nekončí. Aby Meira ochránila svůj lid, dovolí Cordellu kopat v zimních dolech. Tam najdou mocnou a nebezpečou magickou propast.

The plot towards the middle was a bit repetitive and not eventful but towards the end things got exciting again.

This book was just as good as the first one if not better. I adored meeting and learning more about the structures of the world. I also loved how in depth Raasch went into about Rhythms and Seasons. I think it took me so long to read because there was just so much information. But I feel like that happens a LOT in sequels. It was still a fun read. The way Raasch writes her characters is so interesting to me. And I love not only how much Meira grew in this book but also how much Mather did too. I also loved seeing things from his point of view. It was very important to the story in this book.

DNF at 175 pages. Just couldn't get back into the story...

I didn't even like the first book, I don't know why I expected this to be better *sigh*

Commented to someone midway though this book that I was reading a "really cheesy and lame YA novel". And holy crap did that change! Got so much better as it went on.

2.5ish stars. Reading this felt like a chore. The last 150 pages were great. Mather’s chapters were great. The plot twist at the end surprised me. But Meira’s personal struggle between “being herself or being a queen” got old real quick. I also felt like she discovered the keys wayyy too easily. She barely had to work for them at all. Also her struggle with her magic made zero sense. It was not well-explained. Why does she keep having these outbursts? Why does she face no consequences for them? And it very much feels like all of the other characters are there to further our protagonist’s development. Basically, I wish Mather was the narrator. I hope there’s more of him in the last book.

Sadly, I didn't like this one as much as the first. The first was fast paced and exhilirating. Couldn't put it down. This one had me for the first fifty pages, lost me for a while, then gripped me again for the last seventy or so pages. The middle has its parts, but it's filled with a lot of traveling and scenes that drag. However, the good parts are just as amazing, if not better than the first book. I still love Meira to death, Mather grew on me in this book (I wasn't big on him during book one, please don't hate me), and we are introduced to a great many new captivating characters. I adore Ceridwen and Rares. I love to hate Raelyn and Simon. (Though in spite of how horrible he is... Simon is a very entertaining person.) Thus, 4 stars. The ending is great, by the way. I can't wait to find out how the saga wraps up in October!

I am madly in love with snow like ashes and wanted to be madly in love with ice like fire. It's good, I enjoyed it but it's no snow like ashes. It just didn't keep me wrapped up in it. I actually cried during snow and I NEVER cry so maybe I was holding this one on too high of a pedestal. I AM still excited for the third. I have never been a '2nd book in a trilogy' kind of girl anyway ;)

I LOVED IT

I had really high expectations for this book And didn't really live up to those expectations unfortunately But really loved the last 3/4 of this book

3.5 stars

3.25⭐

I am still debating between giving this 3 or 3.5 stars. Will think about it until I write my review.

4.5 stars! This book was better than the first, and was much more engaging. While I really enjoyed Snow Like Ashes, this book took that to a whole new level. I felt very connected to the characters, especially Meira, Mather, and Ceridwen, and I cannot wait to see what will happen to them as the story continues.

** spoiler alert ** Let’s get into it.. First of all, Ice Like Fire is an epic sequel to the thrilling Snow Like Ashes and has a gradual and lovely buildup in what is truly going on in this fantasy world Sara Raasch has created. Meira, our main character, starts the book with completely different thoughts of what everything can and could be and throughout the books keeps having to change her theories and people who she can trust. Mather, with his lovely pov’s, is still in Winter and from the moment Cordell didn’t allow the winterians to train I knew it was fishy. I understood Sir, but Cordell being such asses about it was a hot warning. I am so glad he shows up in the end, because he and his soldiers needed a damn change after all that training in Winter. Theron, prince of Cordell, is an absolute fantastic guy or so it seems. I loved him in the first book, but from the beginning Theron changes. His goals are somehow the same, but he feels like a totally different and after that ending I completely understand why goddamn. How didn’t I see it before? I honestly feel a lot like Meira, cause I too had brushed it off, but looking back on it. He is acting different. He is being weird and being rude to Meira, whereas in book 1 he was kind and willing (but now I’m not even sure if he was himself in book 1?! It seems so atleast). I truly am not the person to love politics in books (even though is is super interesting and makes a fantasy world so much more convincing and real) and it took me a while to get through the parts of the book where it was all about being formal and being a true queen, but it was truly worth it in the end. I mean the last hundred paged suddenly flew by! I had a feeling the book was building up too // something // , but still I was surprised and in the best way possible. I was gasping, gritting my treeth, wanting to find out what had been truly going on in this book while Meira was still figuring it out. I cannot wait to see how it all plays out in the last book, because there are fights to be foughts, questions to be answered and a country (well, more than one now) to be properly restored.

finally i'm done! it wasn't as face paced as the first IMO but the ending was surprising and that semi-cliffhanger xD review to come, busy with school, aren't we all :(

This was... boring? My mind kept wandering, whereas this was not the case during the first book. I found it a bit lacking in story quality. The world building was beyond amazing though.

4.5✨

Really 3 1/2 stars. The ending!! Ugh. So much happened in the last 50 pages or so. Really good.

It was literally SO hard for me to get through this audiobook...putting in on each time was a major struggle, but I know if I had tried actually reading it, I would have DNFed it. I didn’t like the narration, I didn’t really care about any part of the story, and Theron and Mira annoyed the hell out of me the entire time. I’m kind of sad since I enjoyed the first book so much, but that was over two years ago and it’s pretty obvious what I look for in a book has changed.
